I've been eyeing the mountain hatch tailgate surface. Seems a lot easier on the knees and makes for a great table area. Are there any competing options for this? I've seen trailgate but there's not a model for 4th gen. Or can anyone speak on the quality of Mountain Hatch for 2024 models?

If you want to go the cheap route, I bought this 1/2" rubber mat and trimmed it to fit. I flipped it upside down when installing it so it's perfectly smooth. It may be a bit ghetto but it suits my needs perfectly.

One benefit is that it's rubber instead of hdpe so it's not slick like Mountain Hatch plastic would be. Another is that if you position it correctly it effectively fills the bottom gap when the tailgate is closed and I get almost no dust coming up through there.

I did have to go to the hardware store and find longer screws to replace the stock hardware, but that wasn't a big deal IMHO compared to the savings ($40 vs $200 for the Mountain Hatch or $400 for the BillieBars), and I'm perfectly happy with the outcome.

I have the Mountain Hatch. It is on sale right now. I like it because it is a food grade cutting board and I use it for camping and projects. And a lot less moolah than BillieBars although those are really groovy looking. If you want a the deep cupholders, you probably want to get your hatch cover from BillieBars. If you go to my profile, you will see a link to a thread. I’ve posted with items I’ve added to my truck, including my tailgate cover.

One thing to note is that the Mountain Hatch will conform to the side edges of the tailgate as you bolt it down, even though it seems like it’s completely stiff when you get it. After doing that mine lies flat. I am not sure how the BillieBars covers work. My guess is that they have designed theirs similarly, so that there is not a gap between the tailgate metal and the aftermarket hatch cover. Maybe @jetengr19 can weigh in.
