Not sure if you were asking me specifically, but I have ESE and ANC both turned off (using Carista). I turned both off shortly after buying my truck.
Yes. Sorry. I should have been more specific. I wonder if ANC or ESE might be able to get rid of the droning at certain rpms.

In theory ANC could help, but I have the BeatSonic amp and it doesn't play nice with the ESE & ANC... I love the amp, so I'm willing to live without ANC.

I've played back and forth ON and OFF with ANC and I seriously can't tell a difference

I have the amp too. I had no idea it didn’t work with ese and anc. What effect does it have on ese and anc?

I could have sworn I read reports that it caused issues with ESE and ANC, but I just dug around and can't find anything. So I'm thinking I was wrong. Either way I have both turned off on my truck.

I used to have ANC and ESE turned on, but even with the stock exhaust and then more so when I put the TRD performance exhaust on, at certain rpms and trying to accelerate, I would get this crazy deep rumbling sensation that sounded exactly like a subwoofer playing a constant low note really loud. It would shake my whole cab. Turned off both and it went away.

Now I get a mild drone that sounds far away (i.e., coming from the muffler under the cab) only once in awhile when trying to accelerate when the truck is in a gear that is too high for the task. For example, when trying to speed up on the freeway when the truck is in 8th gear and I haven't pushed the throttle down far enough or quick enough to downshift, the truck stays in that gear at like 1500 rpm and the rumbling happens, but it is not super loud and does not shake the whole cab anymore.

The reason the entire cab was shaking previously with everything turned on was because the low note from the exhaust was enough to physically vibrate the cab and microphones and creates a feedback loop with the ANC and ESE systems that intensifies to the point the speakers were playing a louder and louder bass note trying to give the fake exhaust note and try and cancel out the actual sound from the exhaust.

There are plenty of posts about the rattling of the interior when louder bass is playing from music. The same thing happens when the ANC and ESE is taxing the speakers to both play fake exhaust sound and cancel the sound at the same time. It may be different with the acoustic glass of the higher trims, but for me turning off everything was the answer to cancel the drone.

To address your comment, though - I would think having the ANC and ESE on would not actually cancel out drone but make it worse for certain trim packages. But, this is based on my own experience and I don't have the acoustic glass or hood insulation so I could not pinpoint if those things change anything. If you don't notice anything it's probably fine.

It is also possible that some simply cannot hear the deep frequencies produced by the feedback loop. This is also good in a different way, as one wouldn't need to change anything if this is the case. The rumbling sounds like the lowest frequency the speakers can produce on max volume. Knowing my own music, it is in the 30-40 Hz range since the stock, non JBL speakers dont produce anything below this. I would think the rattling of the interior would give it away, but then again these trucks are pretty rattly anyways so it probably isn't much different from normal driving for those who can't actually hear it.

Edit: one more thing, i read somewhere that TRD Pros get a different ESE sound file to match the TRD performance exhaust. Not sure of the truth behind that, but I would think this may also affect if a feedback loop occurs or not with ANC and ESE activated on those trims.
