I have been trying to swap my SR5 hood for a sport hood with the scoop for quite a while. Folks online (reddit, forums, socials etc) were fairly discouraging, but I kept at it. I posted here, reddit, IG, Craigslist, Facebook, and I even left a couple notes on rigs offering a trade +$500.

What finally worked for me was running a marketplace ad with a nice photo of my truck offering to trade hoods +$500 which I think is more than reasonable considering what the cost of the parts from Toyota + paint would have been. Or even the Seibon hood with no paint.

Someone saw the posting and had been annoyed with line of sight issues from the scoop and with water being directed towards the windshield during rainy commutes. He drove 2.5 hrs to me and didn't feel the full $500 was necessary, which was super nice.

The swap was very easy. 4 bolts each hood and a wiper line. 2 dudes and a 12mm, no problems.

So just for other folks looking: keep it up! There are people out there who have the scoop and don't want it. Just be patient and kind and keep trying.

So, did you have to get it repainted? If so, are you happy with the paint job?

I absolutely couldn't give 2 donkey nuts what anybody thinks about me or anything I own.
I'm with you dude, Idk why I am just always surprised when people are so comfortable putting other folks down. I'm always like "who hurt you little buddy ?"

In my experience, the guys like that Eric that say shit like that, do it because they're broke d*cks who can't afford nice things. As if people aren't out there every day spending more than an SR5 costs on a SxS just to crash it into a tree or flip it on a hill. Meanwhile the "real" offroad guys with money aren't driving trucks either, they're driving basically custom tube buggies(or rigs that might as well be) which cost twice what these trucks do anyway.

His "4x4" was probably a just a typical GM sh*tbox with more wheel than tire that popped beads all the time because the tires were stretched and the trails he drove on were probably B-roads that the local farmer hadn't used the brush hog on the ditch in awhile.

Reguardless, I don't mind the scoop. To each their own. Lucky you got a perfect swap like that.

Spot on here brother.

It's just the type of guy you gotta deal with when you're a poser posting amateur videos on YouTube šŸ˜‚
