Left lunch today and got into my truck that wouldn’t start. Battery powered components worked fine but the engine itself didn’t start until about the 10th attempt. Wouldn’t go above 10mph without struggling to go into the next gear. Got it to the dealer and they won’t look at it till Thursday earliest and offered no loaner. “Steering Power Low Engine Stopped” is the warning that started the whole thing.

Truck is still under warranty so I hope it works out but pissed about not having a vehicle for possibly a week. Anyone have an idea of what it might be?

It sucks to have this failure, but what really sucks is no loaner. More than one 4th gen has died suddenly but most people in that situation get something to drive. You might want to contact Toyota to see if your are owed a loaner and you just happen to have a really lame dealer.

I went to a dealer for a potential warranty job that was considerably less serious than this and also got denied a loaner.. whatever new policy this is sucks. It should be a given if you have just bought a brand new vehicle and it's in the shop for anything that you get a loaner. Left the dealership a bad review over it, maybe if enough people complain it'll change.

It's not like they don't have inventory to give people... the economy isn't that good :cwl:

Edit: If I were you I'd definitely call and ask for the service writer manager and chew him up a little, that's pretty unacceptable. Or have them pay for the Ubers to and from the dealership at least.
