Hi guys… I have a problem with my Tacoma TRD Sport HEV. I installed a TRD Pro intake with the original MAF sensor from my truck, and I also installed a TRD Pro exhaust. The problem is that the RPMs after accelerating stay at 2000 RPM. I've also noticed that the electric motor doesn't engage as frequently as it used to; in fact, it doesn't charge the battery more than 30%.

Has this happened to anyone else? Do you know if I need to reprogram the ECU with these changes?

Example image I took from someone here on the forum

The TRD airbox requires a retune. Exhaust is fine. Remove the airbox.

BTW, that’s only the exhaust tip portion of the TRD exhaust. There is a center part.

He's right. The MAF scaling needs to be corrected because the diameter of the tube where the MAF is located is larger. The truck is running lean, and it will run very lean in boost when it goes into open loop (no longer trimming fuel off o2 sensor reading).

We put out a PSA on the scaling issue back in Jan 2025.

If you need assistance getting it properly scaled, let us know. We have the solution ready to go.

Best,
Justin
