2024 Limited, ~18k miles mostly highway, bought new.

This is my work truck, mostly sees highways, some gravel roads, some fields. Never any extreme terrain, harsh braking, or collisions. Never hit anything on the highway.

A month back, I noticed some pronounced front end vibration that worsened with braking when over 60mph. Seemed like a warped caliper. Dealership checked everything (balanced tires, alignment, etc) and found nothing out of whack. They ended up resurfacing the front rotors which they think were indeed warped. Very strangely, they did this for free (brakes not covered by any warranty), and they didn’t want to talk about any details. Truck seemed fine after this, smooth braking at speed.

Fast forward to this week, the vibrations are back. Checked the rotors, no visible wear, grooves, blueing, etc. I’ve driven maybe 400 miles on the fresh brakes. Again, no unusual use, no riding brakes, etc.

Really surprised and frustrated to be having any issues with brakes on a new truck. Anyone else encountering this issue yet?

How often are the tires rotated?

Forget it - i just saw this only happens with braking.

Any updates on this? I am experiencing the same thing at 20k miles. Will be mentioning this once I take it in for the AC chirp TSB.

Turned out to be warped rotors. Toyota took it in and machined them for free, even without any warranty coverage. They didn't ask questions and didn't want to talk about why they could have warped.

3k miles later and it's just started happening again. I rotate the tires with oil changes every 5k. Even so, the front tires are visibly wearing faster on the outside. Alignment/balance was all within spec 3k miles ago when the rotors were done.

I haven't braked hard or descended any mountains since the rotor job. No idea yet why it's happening again but it's extremely frustrating...

The alignment on these trucks does not appear to hold. I had the first check at 9mo in (it took until Jan '25 for non-dealerships to receive the Gen4 alignment spec publications). At 9mo it was out. Then checked again 6 months further on and it was out again. Just checked it again 7 months after that one and it was way out with significant outside edge wear on the front two tires. The truck sees 98% paved roadways, and 2% gravel/dirt/field. Everything is OEM.

All three of these are from the same shop (title changes are the revisions of the alignment being pushed to them)

I also had warped rotors at 20k that wobbled when decelerating at highway speeds and Toyota resurfaced them and the vibration went away. I also changed the pads while they were in there because I do a lot of mountain driving and they were low.

I have about 37,000 on my 24 Sport and my driving is mostly in the N VA area on I-95. In moderate braking I am also getting some vibration. I'm taking my truck in to a local shop later in July and will have them install heavy duty high carbon rotors and ceramic pads. Not sure if this will get me more life (mileage) before the wobbles start again, but I'm hoping they will help with the madness here in N VA... Oh yeah, watch those rear pads too, especially if you're using the lane departure feature! I turned mine off.

Get a torque wrench and re-torque your lug nuts after the wheels have been taken off for any reason and again after about 100 miles.
