Is anyone else having issues with CarPlay connecting, then you drive 2-10 minutes, and it just disconnects... most of the time I can go to settings, bluetooth and devices, click the device, and click "use CarPlay", and it will reconnect, but it is really disruptive/distracting to do while driving. I haven't tried wired CarPlay.

Same for me, wired works perfect. I just updated the OS on my iPhone and maybe something to do with it? Didn't seem to have this issue when I first purchased the truck

I had it happen in the first week (January), but it has certainly gotten worse. I just bought my truck a month ago, so I didn't have too much time before the iOS update.

I've had my truck 6 months now and that happened to me on only one day when it disconnected over and over again. I have no idea why that happened and it has not done it since.

To make getting CarPlay back easier you can do it with a voice command, "hey Toyota launch Apple CarPlay". If the reply is that your phone is not connected "hey Toyota connect iPhone" fixes that too. I occasionally don't have CarPlay available when I start my truck but the voice command fixes that, and it seems to happen if I have driven my truck without having my phone.

Hopefully this kind of stuff will be fixed eventually in an update.

Nine month old truck and my CarPlay disconnects without warning once or twice a week. It has done so since new but certainly worse in recent months. Pleased to learn of the voice command solution to reconnect.

Yeah, the voice commands help even though there is obviously still a problem. Hopefully it will be updated eventually.

Thanks for the heads up. I put off installing 18.4 because of the CarPlay problems, and I just finally did it today. Installing 18.4.1 now so hoping to skip these issues.

I finally figured out my issue with CarPlay. I finally realized while driving it was disconnecting in the same areas in town, and I got to thinking that it had to be wifi related. In fact, my phone was dropping the CarPlay wifi for XFINITY WIFI. The below changes had completely solved my issues.

On your iPhone -> Settings ->Wifi ->Edit (top right) ->scroll all the way to the bottom to "Managed Networks" usually, AT&T, Comcast, XFINITY WIFI, etc, and TURN OFF auto-join.
