We’ve been working on a new overhead MOLLE panel for the 2023 Tacoma, and the part I think is actually worth talking about is the flip-down design.
Overhead storage is great for getting gear off the seats and floor — until you need something and have to reach around above your head to get it.
This one is designed to flip down when you need access, then fold back up against the roof when you’re done.
A few details we built around that idea:
The video also shows the panel loaded with gear in both the stowed overhead position and flipped-down position, which is really the whole point of the design.
I’m curious about the real-world side of this:
What would you actually keep overhead in your Tacoma — first aid, recovery gear, tools, radios, or something else? And would the flip-down feature matter to you, or would you mostly leave it up?

A few details we built around that idea:
- Flip-down MOLLE panel for easier access to mounted gear
- Dedicated pull strap, so you’re not grabbing the panel itself every time
- Protective side housings around the mounting/hinge areas for a cleaner finish and fewer exposed edges
- Designed to install without taking apart the factory interior components
- Plenty of mounting space for first-aid kits, pouches, small tools, recovery gear, and other stuff you’d rather keep off the floor
