They removed both sides and taped with foam tape and reinstalled.
Looks like a perfect pocket to catch the wind like a parachute.
Can you post an updated picture?

The dealership thinks they have solved the riddle. Here it is .....
It was none of my guesses and nothing I had seen before on Tacoma4G or Tacomaworld
Makes sense with speed activation.

25 ORP, you have no idea how grateful I am that you shared this. I had the same rattle that only happened going 50+ mph. I've tried diagnosing it myself and tried taking it to the dealer. They told me it was wind noise from my ditch lights 🙄

The rattle really drove me crazy when highway driving. It was the one thing that bothered me about a truck I otherwise love. I was starting to debate whether or not this was a deal breaker issue in terms of me keeping the truck long term.

After watching your video I located that piece of plastic trim on my driver's side door and sure enough it was loose like yours in the video. I shoved some foam tape in there and boom, the rattle is GONE!!! I am so relieved.

Thank you so much for sharing that video. If you're ever in Sacramento hit me up and I'll buy you a beer. Heck I'll buy you a case of beers and a steak dinner!!

@Darth Taco @hagglethorn glad I could help you guys. It was the only thing that I didn't like about the truck. I knew it was wind because speed was the catalyst. Probably lots of trucks making this noise but some people don't know or care enough to find the solution. Hopefully Toyota engineers lurk on this thread and make a running change. There is a youtube video and the guy never did find this resolution 2500 views and doesn't figure it out. The sound on his video is identical.

How exactly do you remove that piece? Is it the weather stripping on the side of the door? I see the plastic piece your flicking and pushing making the noise. Do you have to open the door to remove?

Thanks so much, I will try this tomorrow. I removed my door panel today and installed some foam tape so hopefully that fixed it. I could stop the rattle in my door by pressing on the door panel right below the window next to the seatbelt. I taped there so we will see. I’m not sure if my noise is wind noise, happens at about 5mph and above. I tried to flick that plastic piece like you did but mine sounded silent. If I still have the rattle I will remove the same piece you did and tape……if I can figure out how to remove it 😂👍🤣

It’s on the inside, leading edge of the door. Towards the front of the truck. Yes, door needs to be opened to remove. I found opening the door fully and then bringing it back to the first notch works best.

Thanks. Will try today. I assume the holes in the piece you removed are the little push pins where you push in the middle and the pin pulls straight out?
