First time owning expensive wheels and tires.

Are any wheel locks specifically better than the others? Or are they all the same?

I would not bother with wheel locks. I took off the dealer installed locks. Unless you are parking in unsavory areas you probably will never have your wheels stolen. Plus the thieves can have tools to get the locks off in seconds

I'm using a combo of spline wheel lugs and gorilla locks. These wheels aren't coming off unless you have hours and plan on damaging the rims. The spline lugs require a key that is more generalized, while the gorilla locks are unique one-of-one keys. I had my toolbox stolen some years ago, which had my key in it. I had to reach out to them directly and make a plaster mold of the gorilla lock for them to make a custom replacement.

I went with the Toyota OEM locks, probably not the most secure, but at least it's something. Also, the dealerships have all the keys if needed. Again, this too may be an issue, but better than nothing. Also, I don't think they look too bad.

I have the factory locks but just got my set of Advanced Locks and they look like a quality product.

I don't worry much day to day but whenever I travel, it's a concern.

For me, personally: I think Advanced Wheel Locks are great. It may be a tad bit expensive but the quality is superb and it looks nothing like the typical wheel locks you'd find anywhere else. The locks itself are conical and not every thief (out there) has a set of keys to unlock them.

At first I wouldn't dream of spending any more money on my truck. But after hearing what happened to my bff...I'm all in when it comes to protecting my investment.

A thief stole my best friend's 3rd Gen Tacoma's wheels and tail gate all in under 30 mins...right from his own driveway in the middle of the night. After seeing pictures and hearing him recount his experience of coming outside the following morning and seeing his truck sitting on cinderblocks where his rims/tires were and an "missing" tailgate.

His neighbor across the street caught the whole ordeal on camera. Since his tailgate wasn't locked up, the thief simply unhooked his tailgate in under 5mins and threw it in the back seat. As far as the rims/tires, it took the thief 25 mins to steal them and throw them in the back of his truck. It's a good thing he had a spare car to drive to work but what a nightmare he now has to go thru by buying 4 new sets of rims & tires + a tailgate (an extra expense he was not planning on spending).

If you do end up buying a set of Advanced Wheel Locks (https://advancedlocks.com/shop)

They'd ask you to fill out a form so they can match you with the right set of locks for your truck. But their website isn't up-to-date (so to speak) so if you have a 2025 model, the "Tacoma" isn't listed as one of the options. Which means you'd have to choose the 2024 model in order to select "Tacoma".

Once that's done, it would take you to this page.

If you end up getting a set of M12X1.5, 37mm Tall, Mag Seat #3011 (as shown above) it WILL NOT FIT your truck. Even though their computer says it will. I bought a set of these back in June and when I took them to Discount Tire to install them. They would not fit b/c it's too SMALL.

Luckily their customer service was awesome and they were able to take these back (with prepaid shipping) and send me the right set of Advanced Wheel Locks in black (to match my PRO). NOTE: 4G Tacoma takes M14x1.5. @Andrace

It's been two months, I thought they'd get their site fixed by now...guess not.
