Today I received and installed the Rig'd RambleSwing on my Trailhunter. The swing out was ordered 9 weeks ago.
I've researched every popular swing out option and decided on the RamblerSwing for two reasons:
1. At max insertion depth, it has a relatively short overall length at 11" . Rockymounts After Party is shorter, but having checked it in person, I do not believe its construction can handle light off-road use.
2. It has the burliest construction out of all the swing outs on the market

The negatives are pretty obvious: weight and horrible departure angle.

I have a Lone Peak camper ordered so storing the bikes in the truck bed is out of the question. I'd like to build a living space out of the camper. The plan is to keep the swing out and rack on the truck for everyday use and camping trips, and take them off for more serious off-roading. I expect the swing out and bike rack to make contact with dirt and rock even for light off-roading, and will monitor the damage and see how they hold up.

I have a 6 week sabbatical lined up next year and hopefully I'll have everything dialed in by then. That includes the camper, electrical, water, and bike storage.

Anyway, hope this helps fellow mtbers with their research. Cheers.

Ideal mounting point for two bikes is upside down, one on each side of the bed rack (you can use zip ties).

That way, if you flip over doing some gnarly obstale, you would just safely land on the bike tires (which are pointed upward) and could push your truck home with zero damage.

Enjoy that TH. Ya RiGd is solid but heavy! I bed-haul the bike with FreedomCoast L-track kit, throw it on a 1Up on the GFC roof when at camp / saving weight for a kitchen slide almost done; RinseKit rides up top too.

I’m doing mostly service roads/gravel for now—so weight and aero > Class-4 flex. So I don’t worship entry or departure angles. I run an air dam up front, yanked the 20-lb rear hooks; SXTH Element’s aluminum adapter gives a bed step + both recovery points in aluminum, shave weight there / loving th ARB bumper tho, get rear ended theoretically won't be as harsh as a reg. tacoma bumper.

The original TH promo was shot on Harrah Pass, a Ford Pinto can do that trail so if you don’t need extreme angles, skip rock sliders; on the 6’ TH that’s ~125 lb saved switching to the TRD Pro rocker protectors instead.

If only RiGd built in lightweight alloy.

Good lord where do you live where the bed and camper lock are not good enough and you need that huge cable?

Nice. I have been looking at those not for bikes but for spare tire/fuel. I'm also probably going to get a Lone Peak in the next year or so depending on funds. Please post your impressions on the LP when you get some time with it.

Get shit stolen 1x and you’ll rethink how you protect your gear. Redundancy if I forget to lock a panel, but also, there’s vulnerabilities to these shell/RTT systems none of which I’ll talk about here. Doesn’t matter where you live or travel. And the tailgate can be unlocked by smashing front driver side glass & hitting the tailgate button. So it’s a good idea to disconnect that panel switch. (People have gotten their tailgates stolen this way). So they’ll take your tailgate and whatever else that’s not locked down.

OB2 lock, steering wheel lock, wheel locks, spare tire lock. JBL dash speaker locked under a goose gear platform or leave that damn thing on your kitchen counter

thieves just need to get lucky 1x, you need to be perfect every time. Garaging in my near future but same risks apply if traveling & away from the vehicle for a period of time

Nice setup.

I'm running a swing (swagman swivel) similar to the Rigd Swing with a 1Up Rack. This weekend we were driving a lot of gravel roads at high speed and the damage it has done to my rear tailgate is insane. Rock chips everywhere, the rear is completely peppered from rocks bouncing off the swing and into the tailgate.

I am running full length Ark Mudflaps, but it didn't do anything. Maybe the rigd swing is a little higher and you won't have an issue.

Just something to be aware of or you may not care. Not sure what I'll do yet as the damage is already done
