Rims and tire setup for some possible snow?

I just bought a 2025 sr5. I’m using this car to drive through some possible snow in big bear and mammoth California as well as driving it in the San Fernando valley and desserts. What size rim and tires should I use to maximize ride quality, gas efficiency, but also making sure I never need chains in snow.

17 inch wheels, All Weather 3 peak rated tires, will do the trick. Stick with OEM size for the best MPG

If you go up to 265/70/17 your speedometer will be considerably more accurate, within 1mph. The 245/70/17s make the speedo pretty inaccurate.

Nokian Outpost NAT are probably better in snow/ice or Mickey Thompson Baja Boss AT are probably better off road. Either way both whould meet your needs.

255 75 17 on OEM wheels. Not much taller, not much skinnier, barely heavier, good selection of 3peak all seasons, or a few winter tires. It's my plan for my 17" wheels come fall. Can ot wait to scrap these OEM BFG slicks.

I second the Nokian Outpost. Or go Michelin Agilis CrossClimate —it can do some light off-roading but mostly a hwy tire. I’m debating these and a couple other AT tires with low rolling resistance & 3PMSF
