I’ve owned my Tacoma since 08-24-24 and logged 19,160 km or 11,905 miles on it. It is my first Toyota product. Here is my honest review and over all rating out of 10.

Pros:
Drivetrain has been great. The engine delivers good power and the transmission does not lag. It has climbed mountain highways without missing a beat.

I’ve had no mechanical issues and don’t expect any for a while, as it’s a Toyota.

I get 500 km per tank in city driving. Which is what I wanted. The reserve is big and tells me to refuel at 450 km but at 500km driven it takes about 64 litres to fill on a 69 litre tank.
12.8 L /100 km = 18.35 mpg city driving.

The CarPlay has been mostly seamless, some glitches in the beginning and had to be reset a few time times, it has been good since.

4wd performs as expected in wet slippery snow (translation: it’s awesome). Have not been off road yet.

Cons:
Lack of a trailer brake controller option and no provision to install an aftermarket one. Only came with upgrade to a higher trim, that had items I did not want (5’ bed, sunroof, sport package premium etc.). This is the biggest complaint or con I have.

Turning radius of a full-size truck. I have the 6’ truck bed and I swear my ‘98 Chevy K1500 extended cab turned tighter.

Cheap skid plate - corrected with a TRD Pro aluminum one, pricey though.

Drivers door panel scratches easily and inexplicably. I had it replaced once under warranty. Generally interior plastic inside seems cheap and easily scratches, but the drivers door panel I don’t know how it gets so scratched. I do not put my arm there, I’m more careful than most people. I don’t even touch the panel there. See pic at bottom.

Seat flap is annoying, always gets scrunched into plastic trim. If flap had been a big larger it would not do this. Minor issue as I untuck it all the time. See pic.

Rear seat room is tighter than it looks. 2 more inches would be great and I think could have been engineered without adding to the length.

Cheap skid plate - corrected with a TRD Pro aluminum one, pricey though.

Left taillight sticks out a quarter inch, not flush like right side, dealer says cannot adjust.

7.5/10 rating overall.
Deducted 1 for cheap interior plastic, seat flap, taillight alignment and turn radius combined. Deducted 1.5 for the trailer brake controller- this is a big one for a truck.

Not much keeping a good truck from being a great truck. The off road transmission heating issue people have been having is cause for concern and I’d deduct if my truck had been in that situation.
