Yeah, my guy at the local dealer has been trying to find out from corporate with no luck. I'm not an auto electrician, but why wouldn't they use the alternator for the entire electrical system?

Same question. When they started adding the alternators I hoped that it was to fix the charging issue, and that they might retrofit them to the earlier trucks.

It didn't make sense to me that they would go to so much effort for one additional AUX. But the hybrids with only 3 AUX outputs still don't have alternators, so that must be the reason. Interesting that they won't even tell the dealers what is going on.

Oh im sure everyone knows whats going on. Its anemic, but they're not going to fix it. Considering my wife's vehicle gets over 30mpg we don't drive the Taco much, but it still starts everytime. Interested to see how long the battery is gonna last having that low of a charge all the time.

Yeah, my wife has an electric and we have rooftop solar, so my truck is not getting driven much right now either. One of these days the 12 volt will go and I will put in an Optima yellow top and then it should be OK with some time on my maintainer.
