Quick update. I submitted a lemon law request to Toyota a month or so ago out of pure frustration. I actually heard back today and the short story is that they have a wiring harness and bed cap off a brand new truck they will install on my truck. They are also upgrading my original desert intake cover with the redesigned one that stays on...hopefully. Wish they'd do that on all the early trucks.

Now to see if it actually happens!

I decided to do my own.
Surprisingly good.
From the side at 15 feet away, it’s 2 1/2 to 3 foot high on my garage door.
We will see how long they last.

I am amazed that it took almost a year to fix the things on your TH that should have been right when it was delivered. Plus when they were not right, how in hell can it take them almost a year to fix their mistakes? I'm not even sure it would getting fixed now if you had not tried to lemon law it.

Toyota finally got back to me on my buy back request. Lo and behold, they are taking a brand new harness off a truck they have AND they are upgrading my intake cover with the new one as well. Thats the intake cover they put all Trailhunters on QC hold last year to fix. It's taken a whole year. Disgusting on Toyota's part that it's taken this long. I have an appointment on the 21st and they are sending a corporate tech to work with my dealer to get it done and make sure it's right.

Thanks! It's been 1 full year since the original diagnosis of the short in the bed scene wiring harness.

Well, today is the day. Truck is at the dealer for the bed scene light fix and the upgraded intake cover. Fingers crossed. Toyota is sending one of their corporate techs to assist my dealer with the repairs. The dealer customer service director of the dealership was there at 8am this morning to meet me too.

Quick update. Dealer still has the truck. I don't know yet if bed scene lights and lower snorkel cover are on or not. I'd also had them look at my tailgate getting hung up on my tonneau cover and they are replacing the actuator if I remember what they said
...and of course it's on backorder. They were waiting until this morning to confirm. They are also doing the software update for the blind spot monitoring system. Waiting...

That exact 'threat' to buy back my truck got them to magically find a wiring harness and agree to upgrade my intake cover to the new design. Toyota should have issued a TSB to replace all the 1st Gen intake covers, but they didn't.
