2024 Tacoma SR5 alternator failure

Hello Hello!
At a whopping 5k miles, my 2024 SR5 has a failing alternator and has been sitting at Toyota awaiting an alternator for 2 weeks, with no arrival date. could be tomorrow, or it could be 3 weeks from now. Has anyone else had this issue?

Noticed it had chirping when it first started cold about 3 weeks after I got it, then progressively started to do It more and while I was driving. Took it in and the next day I was informed it had a failing alternator.

Two chirps at startup? Have you had the alternator checked for the charging voltage?

Reason I ask is that a lot of us have the chirp at startup, myself included, and it's the AC clutch.

First I've seen or heard of an alternator going out.

Yea, something along that line. It did it while driving too. I was informed it was a bad alternator bearing specifically.

With it being the alternator, it's not that surprising to me. I also had some rough shifts for the week it was chirping, so maybe the alternator has something to do with that?

Did they give you a loaner car since it's stuck at their dealership?

I have the 2 chirps at startup but also while driving. If it’s a cold night I feel like it chirps a lot off and on for a good 30 minutes at least. On a warm day it seems like once’s completely warm engine it kind of stops or at least become way less frequent but only after the first 15 -20 minutes. Cold nights it is pretty annoying and you crack the window it’s pretty loud. Seems like a lot of people have the chirp on start and I’ve heard in YouTubers videos as well. I wonder if more people have it while driving and maybe don’t notice. I have 2300 miles on my truck. Test drove with dealer but it was pretty warm when I did and it did it 7 times but he couldn’t hear it …right? They wanted to keep it overnight so they could hear it while cold but I wasn’t ready to do that yet. They offered loaner but nothing like spending 50k on a brand new truck to go leave it in service for a couple weeks. I love the truck but I’m probably a bit bitter since my first one had the cracked ac box at 400 miles that was dripping in the floor.

update for ya, they determined it was also the A/C clutch and they are replacing that too.

thanks, hopefully it's here within the next week or so... of course, just like the alternator, it's back ordered.

I've now had the alternator, A/C clutch, and A/C compressor replaced. none helped. A/C clutch solved the issue for a week but now it's back. toyota said its normal. pathetic on a new truck and corporate was informed about it.
