Hello everyone. I just bought a new 2024 Tacoma TRD Off-Road Premium iForceMax Hybrid 4x4. I love it so far. When I brought it home Monday night, I was going over the truck and noticed that my power rear sliding window did not work. I looked for a blown fuse and found none. I followed some of the posts on this forum and saw there were fuse / relay box locations in the cab and two under the hood. The passenger side under hood fuse/relay box seems to be where the relays that control the power rear window are.

Problem is... my truck had no relays plugged into the P/W BACK NO. 1 or P/W BACK NO. 2 relay slots. I did however have two brown DENSO relays part # 90084-98032 plugged into TAIL GATE NO. 1 and TAIL GATE NO.2 relay slots. For testing, I removed the two relays from the tail gate #1 and #2 slots and put them in the P/W # 1 and #2 slots and the sliding power rear window now works as it should. I saw another post of a guy with a 2024 Limited Hybrid Tacoma and he doesn't have the relays for the Tail gate #1 or 2 slots and doesn't even look like he has the wiring in the fuse box for the relays.

So my questions are:
1. Did the factory just misplace the two relays in the wrong slots?
2. What do those two TAIL GATE NO. 1 and TAIL GATE NO.2 relay slots actually do? What features won't work now that those two relay slots are empty? I tested everything I could think of and everything works as it should. I have the power tailgate and it still works perfect. SO do the USB and power ports in the rear. (Have not tried the 120v 2400w plug in the bed yet.)

Pictures attached. Picture below with empty relay slots circled is AFTER I moved the relays. Circled slots are the now empty two TAIL GATE NO 1 and 2 relay slots. I moved the two brown relays from the circled slots to the two slots above labeled as P/W BACK NO 1 and 2.

Let me try and understand. You spent over $55K on a new truck that has a new car warranty. You take the said vehicle home, and on the way home you realize the power sliding window doesn’t work. Rather than turning around and going back to the dealership you decide to go home and start tinkering with your new purchase. Needless to say you can’t figure out the problem, so you then decide to take to a Tacoma forum and spend time uploading pictures and typing up a post.

It seems almost too good to be true - likely click bait, and yes I’ve just become a victim. But here’s my advice.

You can’t be helped!!

Sorry. I thought this was a forum where people actually want to learn and understand how things work. I did get the power sliding rear window to work, AFTER moving the relays from the slots circled in the first picture to the two slots they are in now. IT NOW WORKS. I'm trying to understand what those two TAIL GATE #1 and #2 relay slots that are now empty actually do. I've tested everything on the truck and all my features work.

Thank you. I have it working now. Just trying to understand what those two empty TAIL GATE #1 and #2 relay slots do.
