2024 TRD Off Road iforce Max Engine Noise When Accelerating - Concerning?

Which I concluded was normal after investigating. (It was the direct injection kicking in, we have both port side and direct.) Since that post I've driven 6000+ mi and the truck is fine.

I'm no expert. But hopefully that gives you some peace of mind.

Mine makes that sound here and there too. I'm fairly sure it's the engine switching back and forth from direct injection and port injection. I've been meaning to hook my scan tool up so I can watch the live data and confirm it.

Makes me feel a little better about it then. I'm hoping the noise on mine is for the same reason!

It does sound like that but mine is more prolonged. The sound on yours seems to be just for a bit and then goes away?

Update: Dealership states that this is completely "normal" and nothing to be worried about.

Mines can sound a little more prolonged sometimes too. Sometimes less. Depends on a slew of things, how warmed up the engine is, how cold it is outside, playing with the throttle some more, going uphill, etc.

It’s normal. you don’t hear it as much when driving because of ANC. These engines are noisy.

Hi Everyone,

I just bought my first Tacoma ever and am very excited about it but have recently started hearing a loud buzzing/rattling sound when accelerating. The truck has less than 400 miles on it and I've had it for about a week and just started hearing this noise yesterday. The noise happens between 1500-3000RPMs and can be heard from inside the cabin as well. I went from not hearing it at all when first purchased to hearing it every single time I drive it now as it's pretty loud. Is this something that I should be concerned about and should I take it to the dealer to get checked out?

That is your high-pressure fuel pump kicking in and out. It truly is completely normal operation, and the high-frequency sound you hear is the bleed-off valve from the high-pressure pump doing exactly that: bleeding off pressure.
