Good question. I think the manual says to do it on the battery but that terminal under the hood is for jumping the truck, so I don't see why it wouldn't work.
That's my assumption as well. When I have time to hang around, I'll try it, but if I'm charging when I'm away, I'll do it at the battery.

So nobody has hardwired it from the backseat to a plugin? That way you can simply insert an extension cord into the male receptacle, without having to open hood or backdoor/lift back seat. Using one of these:

Sure, if you want to dedicate the trickle charger to the truck and leave it in place, just plugging in the AC cord via that mount.

Better IMHO to either use a ring-terminal pigtail like this one: https://www.amazon.com/Battery-Tender-081-0069-6-Terminal-Disconnect/dp/B000NCOKZQ

I used to use that for motorcycle battery charging, and now use it for the waverunner.

Or if you prefer a bulkhead mount rather than a pigtail, there's this: https://www.amazon.com/Battery-Tender-Quick-Disconnect-Cable/dp/B0DSM123QD

(and I still think it's ridiculous to have to put a modern vehicle on a trickle charger unless you're leaving it sit for 3+ weeks at a time)

That's pretty cool. I'll check to see if you can attach it to the wall near the battery under the back seat. If so, I have a NOCO Genius 5 that might fit in with the battery. It's not too much of a pain to raise the back seat to charge, but this would be much easier. Our RAV4 Prime is a bigger hassle to get to the battery, and the RAV manual states that the negative has to be removed for charging - weird.

I always charge mine under the hood. Have never had issues. It's currently charging that way for the next 2 months.
Check out JackVZ's post here about the NOCO adapter, although I'm not sure where you'd put it. I'm thinking of putting it on the wall by the battery under the back seat.

I have used battery maintainers for years on cars that I didn't drive in the winter. None of them were ever charged with the negative wire unhooked, but then none of them were hybrids.

Curious if it would fit. And then somehow run that cable to the bed and mount on the cab wall or side wall for easy plug in
