2024 Tacoma 2025 SR5 to 2026 TRD Sport upgrade comparison review 763C5CCC-125A-47B8-A79A-B9BB36E7E5D3_4_5005_c

After exactly 1 year and 9k miles with my SR5 I was tempted into upgrading to a TRD Sport at a screaming deal (thank you month end sales insanity), so I jumped at it, and boy do I love it. After not being a truck guy my whole life to having 2 in a year goes to show you how extremely good these Tacomas are. Here are some of my observations:

Ride
First thing that blew me away was the the improvement in the suspension. I never thought my SR5 was particularly rough but yeah.. it could've been better. The TRD Sport suspension solved those problems for the most part. All around a much more solid, planted feel driving now.

Options
Whoever built this Sport checked a lot of boxes for it not being a premium. List includes sport upgrade packge, heated seats, 14 inch screen, moon roof, bed steps, and bed liner. Really it has everything I was left wanting with my SR5. JBL system is a good upgrade over stock but I need to find a rattle in the passenger door that all bass freq seem to resonante with which is driving me insane. Only thing that breaks my heart a bit is going from Blue Crush to Ice Cap. I've always owned white vehicles and I love them, but Blue Crush really grew on me. Now I just make due with the blue interior trim (hoping it grows on me too, a bit on the fence about it..)

Performance
This is all potentially in my head but I do feel as if it is more "sporty" compared to my old truck. Maybe someone with a bit more knowledge can explain if there really is any performance/tuning difference between the 2? The exhaust seems a bit more deep and the MPG's/range ever so slightly worse (could be my foot lol).

Mods/Plans
Back when I first got my SR5 I scored a full TRD performance exhaust removed from a Pro for $300 but I never put it on for some reason and it's been collecting dust in my shop ever since. That will not be the case with this truck, I'm planning on installing that asap as I love the extra hint of growl it gives without being totally riced out. Next would be an intake- and I can already tell everyone is firmly in their own camps surrounding this topic so I am still researching which would fit my wants the best. New tires/wheels this winter for sure, I'm leaning towards the OEM 18in TRD wheels (anyone have pics of an Ice Cap with these?) and I'm hoping to get some tire recommendations from you all as well. Always loved the OEM+ vibe so that's what I am going for overall.

Conclusion
Could not be happier with the upgrade and I'm excited to make it my own. Drop some of the worthwile mods you've made, I'd love to hear them.

My Blue Crush is sad to see your Blue Crush go, but congrats on the new truck!
