Hello,

Been going back and forth for a couple weeks now undecided. So thought I would ask some opinions. Here are my restraints.

-I for sure want an 18" tire. I already have the TRD 18" wheels with the +45 backspacing. They are what I want. I do know many more choices out there with 17s

-Ideally I think I want a tire around 33.5 to 34.5 maybe 35

-Non hybrid OR with TRD Suspension lift. I could care less if I need to remove my crash brackets or trim mudflaps

-No towing, no real frequent hauling: I do not think I want anything in a load E which limits my choices

-Im trying not to completely destroy my mileage

-Ideally I need to stay under 6'8" but Im currently at 6"4 maybe with the stocks sitting at about 31", so I dont think any of these are a concern

So with that said, here is what I have narrowed it down to so far

Falken Wildpeak 285/70R18 Load C - 34 x 11.50, 68lbs 1568
Falken Wildpeak 35x11.50R18 Load C - 34.9x11.9 , 62.6lbs 1487
Nitto RG AT 295/70R18 Load SL - 34.29x11.77, 52.79lbs 1544
Goodyear Duratrac 275/70R18 Load D - 33.19x10.98, 57.5lbs 1423
Nitto TG G3 275/70R18 Load SL - 33.19x10.98, 45.57lbs 1152
Toyo Open Country AT III (EV) 275/80R18 Load SL - 33.2x11.0, 43lbs 1367 (-100 rebate)

I think that is primarily what I have on the table.

I grabbed general stats and pricing from simple tire for comparison.

I do have some thoughts specifically on these, but curious what yours are first. Long term plan, after regearing options are more widely able or swaps from the MT are more common, will go to something near 4.30 gears and ultimately to 37s.

Thanks for the help!

I've got the Nitto TG G3 275/70R18 Load SL and I really love them. Had the Yokohama Geolander prior to these and they were loud AF. The Nitto are awesome. I just drove from Northen WA to Northern CA - they were quiet, comfortable, and performed well in the downpours. Haven't had them on snow or ice yet, so can't speak to that, but I really enjoy them. Would buy them again.

Intrigued by the top 2 Falkens you posted though. Would be interested to hear from someone who's run those.

I want the Falkens but not at that weight. Unreal almost 70lbs on a load C. Not without gears. I’m sure would be fine with the hybrid though

I ordered the Nitto Recon in 295/70R18. At 52lbs...hard to beat

They were in stock at SimpleTire

Now to decide to have dealership install and realign or elsewhere

Will update and review. Appreciate the responses, its helped nudge me in the right direction

I have Ironman IM2.5 stage 2 3.5" lift, KMC KM719 17x8 +35, Nitto Recon Grappler 37x11.50 tires. No regear needed. It do be tall though.

I’m running the Nitto G3 you posted in 275/70-18. I’ve had them on my truck for over a year and almost 20k. They are wearing evenly and still quiet on the highway. Super happy with these tires Overall.

Personally haven't ran any of those tires, but when it comes time I have also narrowed down my list to the same Toyo and Falken model with the addition of M/Ts.

I see you are looking at metric sizes and various widths. Just thought I'd add another factor into the mix. If your not going off road in specific conditions that require wider tires, and don't require them as an esthetic, narrower tires will likely serve you better in the snow.

Ya, I actually ran 34x10.50R17 on my 5thGen 4Runner. I think a 255 is maybe what 10.00 10.25. I did consider that, just didnt find much for the R18s. Skinner also generally weighed less and took less of a hit on the MPG. Had I gone with 17s, I would also consider the 35x10.50R17s. Couple options out there for a lighter tire

So... after lots of debate

I ordered and had installed the 275/70R18 Duratrac Load D at 57.5lbs

Discount had them on sale for 300 each, hard to pass up

I love them, I think it looks great, but heres a couple thoughts afterword

On one hand, glad I only went with around a 33" while our re-gearing options seem to be very slim. I dont feel like I took a huge hit, but can tell accelleration is a light bit slower. Not bad, and still fun to drive though

Alignment couldnt be done on the hunter machine, didnt have the specs for the new Tacos. I literally just had it done 2 weeks ago at the dealer after my TRD lift, so Im sure its still close and drives straight, but will probably pay for the dealership to do it again to get optimal wear

Speaking of, Toyota is stingy with the Caster. I think the printout they gave me post lift was 2.9 degrees. I have 0 rub with these, but I bet I only have 1/2" to spare before hitting the mudflap. I have the wider candian, but not the widest canadian. It has the buldging pocket if you know what I mean on it. So that could be modified or changed, but its close without getting more caster.

While yes part of my wishes it was the 35s, I didnt want to rub and try to find an alignment shop that would work with me to get 3.5 caster or more. I also dont want to loose more power or less mpg that where I think I am now.

So next move, regear, then 35s or 37s. We will see... Debating getting the RC fender flares as well

Appreciate the input, hopefully this helps someone else.
