Mine worked perfectly with an Amazon purchase. Not even close to a rub and doesn't hang over the fender either. They do have dozens of models out there and I might guess that the version you bought may not be aligned the same an OEM step. It might be fine for a truck without a recovery hook, but not with one using the bracket.

For reference this is the one I bought:
Rear Bed Step Tailgate Step Compatible with 2024 2025 Tacoma Folding Truck Step Retractable Rear Bumper Tailgate Bedstep Replace for PT392-35920

My truck has the OE/Toyota step - it was a port installed option. Hopefully the replacement bracket from SXTH solves the issue.

I have confidence tha that it will fit as the bracket was designed for it. The clones that deviated too much from the Toyota bracket are a crap shoot, but I assume most of them will still work.

I have the complete SXTH RRP setup w/relocate on my TH. No rub but I’m not impressed with its parallel alignment in relation to the ARB bumper once stowed. I guess you have to really look to notice it but for 3+ bones you’d think they get the cosmetics dialed.

That said, the SXTH hooks are really nice & far lighter than the ARB cast iron OEs on my TH

Mine has the same issue. It tilts right versus what I thought it should do and tilt left so it matches the bumper.

Did they take 5 weeks to ship? I’m gonna ask for a solid discount on the part that received or have them send me a replacement that actually looks good before leaving a review.

I measured, 2 degrees off to the right. It’s not completely awful just visually off therefore slightly irritating considering the cost and time it took for delivery.

I also had the problem with the fit between the plastic step and OEM recovery point. I ended up grinding about 1/8" off the back of the plastic step while tapering towards the front (don't think this will affect the step strength much) . This gave me the clearance for the step to swing into the stowed position without any rubbing.

I ordered the bracket around the 1st of July and just got it last week (after a CF shipping issue with SXTH). If I had know about the true time frame and then the slow boat from China shipping I wouldn't have purchased the bracket and would have forgone the recovery point and just rolled with the step.

Yeah, if this replacement fits poorly as well, they can have them both back, I’ll request a refund and just run the recovery point on the left side with step on the right.

Posted in another thread, but if this is useful to anyone...

The first bracket I received from SXTH suffered from the not-bent-90-degrees issue, which means the plastic bed step hangs on the ARB recovery point and won't retract. The replacement they sent was actually worse. I called them out on it and had an engineer reply that he would verify the bracket bend and send me a pic when he shipped the third part.

He did send me a pic, but I was skeptical because it still didn't appear to me to be bent at a true 90 degrees. Sure enough, it arrives and it was identical to the first bracket I received. At that point I decided to attempt to modify the best bracket of the lot: I bent the most rearward mount arm (with the single hole) on the SXTH bracket about 2-3 mm upward (as viewed when installed) and inserted a stainless steel washer between the bed step arm and the bottom of the SXTH bracket on the inboard forward mount location (with two holes).

Seen from the back this effectively rotated the bed step arm assembly outward and It now has about 4-5 mm of clearance between the plastic bed step and the ARB rear recovery point with the step retracted.

I finally had a chance to install the replacement bracket and it works perfectly with the OE step, which is made by AMP, go figure. I know have a nice clean 1/2” or so gap between the step and the recovery point.

I have the original one… if someone wants it to try and modify it or see if it works, just pay the actual shipping costs and I’ll put it in the mail to you this week.
