Edited. Removed "American" for you.I completely understand what you’re trying to say. My only issue was using “buy American” as the standard for quality. American companies can certainly make reliable products, but the same is true of manufacturers in many other countries.
I grew up in the 1960s and 1970s and watched the reputation of American-made products begin to decline. For years, cheap imported products were considered the example of poor quality, but companies such as GM, Ford, and Chrysler eventually lowered their own standards as well. Once that happened, “Made in America” was no longer an automatic guarantee of quality.
So I understand the gist of your point. I would simply replace “American” with “quality.” Avoid shady companies and poorly made products, regardless of where they come from.
