I took my Taco in today for the brake recall. I waited while they did the work. Took 2.5 hours, though, they parked the truck for 2 hours before that so I was there from 11a to 3:30p. The service manager said I won the recall lottery because there’s a shortage of the recall fix kits and dealers are only getting 4 each. This explains the availability and lack thereof you may be hearing about.

Yeah, you won the recall lotto! I've been waiting for quite a while for a letter saying I can go in for the fix. Hopefully they get more soon, or at least before I have an issue.

Did you have to call and schedule your appointment, or does the dealer contact you to set up the appointment and carry out the repair?

Do you think they actually did anything? How do you know?

Glad you got your brake line recall taken care of. Imagine this...

It’s a cool winter day—February 4th, 2025. I get the call: my brand-new 2025 Tacoma TRD Off-Road, Premium package is finally ready for pickup! I start warming up my wife for a potential 1½ to 3 hour drive (thanks, SoCal traffic) to Orange County. We schedule the big pickup for Saturday, February 8th.

I’m pumped—this truck is replacing my old 1989 Ford Ranger that was totaled. I start daydreaming about mods, spend hours on Tacoma4G and browsing sites, lining up my purchase list.

Then... two days before pickup—February 6th—I get a call from the dealer:
“There’s a Stop Sale due to a brake line recall.”

Not ideal—but I figure, no worries, maybe a couple weeks delay? More time to shop for parts, right?

Well, fast forward five months later… feeling pretty dejected, I finally get the call that the truck is repaired and ready.

So on July 12, 2025, I finally took delivery. I love it—and yes, it was worth the wait.

Attached are photos of what I believe to be the repair. I never saw the “before” so I can’t compare—but hopefully this helps others who are wondering about what was changed or upgraded during the recall.

I had my 24 TRD OR at the dealer getting the 1 year service completed last week. Along with the service, which is what my appointment was for, they also did the brake recall and the trailer blind spot sensor recalibration TSB. Total time in the shop was ~3.5 hours.
