+1 exactly why I'm not taking mine for it anytime soon either. I also was just contacted by the dealership to take it in for my first ToyotaCare oil change and not doing that either. Looking forward to doing it
myself this weekend.

No disrespect to ALL techs, because I know there are definitely great ones out there, but there are just as many or more horrible ones and I prefer not to roll the dice unless it's absolutely necessary.

Plus nobody is going to treat my truck with the care that I do (as I sit here rubbing it lovingly with a diaper).

Why is your coolant level so low? I’d be really concerned about that.
It looks like it from that pic, it’s actually between the high Ana low marks on the other side of the tank.

Not much different in Canada! Scheduled my 16k-km service which included an oil change [already did 2 myself] and the the L99 Service Campaign for the BSMS. I also asked them to take a look at why the truck thinks my trailer is still hitched up.
1. They stripped a bolt trying to remove the skid plate. Told me they are not able to complete the oil change.
2. The reason the truck thinks there is a trailer connected is because of the "3rd party trailer-hitch" I installed, it a factory hitch. I took the Service Manager & Tech to the showroom to show them.
3. I guess they did the L99 correctly as I haven't had an issue, or perhaps they didn't do at all.

I guess you have to keep trying different dealers until find the best of worse. Just hope I don't have an issue I can't sort out my as these guys are scary.

No updates as of today. Still cannot figure out why they cannot get things to cooperate. Theyve now opened up a corporate ticket with Toyota (whatever that means) and now have to wait for their help.

Is anyone familiar with what a corporate ticket means? This is super frustrating.

Extra update. I stopped by the dealer to pick up some things that I need since Toyota is going to have the truck longer than expected. I was shocked to find the entire dash dropped and the internals splayed out like human entrails. A 40 year Toyota tech sitting in the front seat following all sorts of electronic diagrams and completely baffled. :(

Oof, truck will never be the same after that.

May as well have them check to make sure that your evap box isn't leaking since they already have the dash out lol

OMG that’s awful. That’s my biggest fear. When they start doing stuff like that it’s never the same.
And all this from a “simple” software flash.
Sorry to hear.

@CheesyTaco I know you don't need me to tell you, but this sucks big time. You take your truck in for a simple software update and the it ends up totally F'd and torn to pieces. @maxx075 is right - it will never be the same again and they still have no clue what is going on.

My truck is definitely never getting this update because I have no confidence in Toyota service at this point. Good luck because you are going to need it!
