CaliRaised front skid recovery point incompatibility

I installed the front skid plate from CaliRaised last week. It involves removing the front recovery points (I have the Toyota ones) and reinstalling them afterward. However, because of the angle on the skid plate, I can’t reinstall my recovery points anymore. There’s not enough room for them to mount flush against the skid plate. Has anyone else encountered a problem like this with CaliRaised (or any other brand skid)?

This is known compatibility problem, but the good news is there are solutions. You can add a cross member to install the edge of the skid plate if it fits your plate.

You could also install longer bolts (M12 I think), but I don’t know what the full specs should be. Search the forum and hopefully there are solutions to fully fix this problem.

I have a hybrid, so I have the cross member and was able to bolt the skid plate to the cross member. Also, the bolts are technically long enough to attach the recovery points to the frame. It's just that because of the skid plate design, there's no way to get them to sit flat like they are supposed to, so they are not secure anymore and not really usable for a recovery now.

Completely sucks. I wonder if the OR recovery points can be attached like the Trailhunter recovery points, or if they are totally different. I think the answer is…argh. Different.

I think I'd ask Cali raised what recovery points they had in mind when they designed that skid. It sucks that they don't mention any conflict with OEM parts on their site. They say that they are 100% bolt on. Lauren01 above may be right that they work with the non-PRO or Trailhunter OEM black tie down points.

A workaround might be to notch the skid plate at the recovery point. I’d request CaliRaised to refund part of the price paid or send something else of use at no charge. I’d be so annoyed…mod equipment has annoyed me from hours of extra work, so I get how you may feel.

I would put the recovery hooks between the skid and frame and use a set of 2x spacers on each side to mount the skid. So, frame > tow hooks > spacer > skid plate > bolt.
I don't know what the spacer height would be or if the length of current bolt would be sufficient. Just brainstorming here.
