Counterpoint: in 6000 miles and 2.5 months of ownership, I’ve not had one instance of unintended disconnection. Pretty pleased with how my iPhone works with the head unit.
What model of phone and OS version are you running?

Does anyone else have the issue where once a month the radio just randomly disconnects your phone from Carplay. I have to go back into the settings and turn carplay back on manually. No rhyme or reason to when it happens. Is there a software update for the truck.

2024 SR5
Update your phone to 18.4.1. Specifically this update fixes some CarPlay connection issues. If havent already.

Some of of my glitches are predictable and readily duplicatable. Hasn’t changed with the update to 18.4.1. Maybe moving to an iPhone 17 in Q4 will help.

Just completed about 1,200 miles of travel over the last week, flipping over 10k during my many travels. Was running software 18.4.1 on a NEW phone and STILL had persistent CarPlay dropping issues. Happened both wirelessly and while plugged into the head unit. It‘s the only thing I don’t like about the truck. As an aside, with all the highway travel, my overall MPG is creeping up and is now at 19.5 since purchase about 11k miles and 5 months ago.

Like @mikeymtbs I never have any problems with CarPlay. I am running 18.4.1 on an iPhone 15 and it never disconnects. It is really strange that for some of us it is perfect and for others it is flaky as hell.

I reported 3 posts ago that mine improved with the update. That was short-lived.

Now its flaky again. At least give me a button on the main screen that reconnects it so i dont have to dive 4 menus levels down.

You can restart CarPlay with a voice command - quick and easy and no menus to navigate. If your phone is disconnected you can also reconnect it with a voice command.

Thanks. I'll try it.
My truck seldom loses CarPlay anymore but relaunching it with the voice command "Hey Toyota - launch Apple CarPlay" always works for me. On a few occasions the reply was iPhone is not connected, and the command "Hey Toyota - connect iPhone" has always restored it. I see people shutting off their trucks, navigating the obscure menus or rebooting the whole interface, and there is no real need for that pain.
