Does anyone need a tailgate assist?

Hi guys, this is Zekzoop. We're developing new Tacoma accessories. Now we are preparing to design a kind of tailgate assist. Do you guys have any suggestions?

The gates are so light on these trucks, I don't see a need.

I agree with CAMTuning. Plus many of the premium trim Tacomas already have a power tailgate.

I am sort in the other group, being probably much older than most of the others in this group I find something that would slow the opening (drop) of the tailgate might be nice. Even though the tailgate is light it falls fast with a bang if you don’t slowly lower it. Lifting it is not a problem today but I expect this will be my last truck so in my future it may become a problem.

I had a 2020 with tailgate damper on open and I Loved it. When I first opened my new 2025 SR tailgate (without an opening damper) It dropped and banged and surprised the crap out of me - The fist thing I do was look up in the forums how to add one - About $120 ? in parts from Dealers. Done !. Easy install and MUCH better !!!

I think a "Kit" with all parts and instructions cheaper would sell !!!

My old 2007 Dodge 2500 would take your shoulder out of it's socket when you let it drop. Best upgrade I did to that one was a hydraulic assist for dropping it.

Sometimes your hands are full when you pop the tailgate and forget it drops fast too ....

Feel like I'd 2nd this. I had a hard cap on my t100 that had hydraulic soft open upwards, that was stupid convenient. Would love just some hydraulic dampers or something for the tailgate so I can drop it without worrying about it slamming and jarring anything inside loose

I love my power tailgate...It's simply convenient and it's open before I reach the truck with "the load..."

I'm always wanting to open my tailgate but it's locked and I always have to fish around in my pockets for the Key fob or If I just got out of the Cab, have to walk back to the Drivers door and hit the unlock button. THEN if I do not open a door - the tailgate locks again after a minute and I have to repeat it all. I have little need to lock my tailgate all the time - I'd like to get a switch that prevents the tailgate from locking once I unlock it .... I did not find a program change for this - yet ...

My SR5 didn’t come with a “soft open” tailgate and would be great to have. Just not sure where to find the accessories to make it happen.
