Does Eco Mode do anything other than throttle mapping?

Does eco mode do anything other than throttle mapping? Does it cause the truck to run lean and therefore slightly hotter?

On a previous car different make, eco mode altered throttle mapping and ran the car hotter.

In these trucks? It appears to have an effect on literally everything. Even the blower for the Hvac slows down.

If it runs lean or hotter than I’ll avoid using eco. If it’s stuff like hvac then I can live with it. Odd but I actually like how the engine and exhaust sounds in eco mode more than regular.

I highly doubt it would really run leaner. Problem with that is a catalytic converter requires a very specific fuel ratio to function properly. So if they wanted to lean it out a bit for better fuel economy like we did in the old days, it would screw with emissions.

I was a bit hasty in my original reply, is pretty much messes with everything EXCEPT fuel mixtures. Changes throttle mapping, shift points and engagement, reduces electrical load and therefore parasitic draw, and even how cold the A/C gets.

Messing with the A/C is a dealbreaker for me.

I think it also has affect on boost levels too it would seem eco mode in turbo engine would be more effective then in a non turbo vehicle

Ok I looked into what BMW eco pro does and it appears my 535 ran 215 degree f in normal and 225 in eco pro mode. The water pump was electric and it runs the engine warmer in eco pro.

Anyone know if the Tacoma does this? Either with the water pump or active shutters?

ECO changes the throttle opening during acceleration. Opens less than normal mode. HVAC doesn't go full blast cooling, which I honestly can't tell the difference other than the Hybrid battery staying charged more in stop and go traffic.
