My dad took me flats fishing with his truck early one morning in the late 90’s. Never forget it, quiet peaceful morning and hooked into my first red fish. Was awesome!!! Was in an older 90’s Tacoma too!

I recall a BSA camping trip in the early '80s when my father took his full size '78 Jeep Cherokee through a mud hole. I thought it was the coolest thing ever and other kids agreed. Felt like I got some offroad cred rubbing off somehow.

My dad had a tan SR5 longbed back in the 80"s. He had a shell and built a sweet bench and storage out of plywood and carpet that matched the color of the truck that he put in the bed of the truck. Each summer he pulled a tent trailer and we traveled from California to Iowa where we had family while we camped on the way. My sister and I drove each other crazy cooped up in the bed of the truck, but still have great memories of those times.

Was my papaw. I remember helping working on his truck under the shade tree. Getting wrenches for him as he explained and answered questions. Then go out on farm roads, dusty and the windows down.

One of my fondest memory was when my Dad had a diesel truck. He lets me rev it every now and then. And being a kid, seeing the smoke come out of the exhaust as I revved it was the coolest thing back then.

One of my fav things on my father’s truck was his mural on the back window. Early 80’s Chevy and he had the eagle soaring through the mountain mural on the back window. It was awesome haha

Dad had an F250 supercab we would take hunting and fishing. We had the big truck camper on it. It went all over the place. Lots of bologna sandwiches, donuts and soda pop. Lots of pheasants and walleye brought home too. Good times.

I've got two, one for my dad and one for my step-dad:

My Dad had a mid 80's Maroon Ranger with Texas A&M decals on the back windows and the real crap fold down seats in the back. As long as my mom wasn't with us he would let me sit in the middle and I would shift for him. When I was about 6 we took it from Northern Iowa to Western Nebraska to pick something up from my Grandpa and I shifted the entire way there and back. One of my favorite road trips with him.

My Step-Dad had a late 70's blue metallic F-250 that was Farm Truck, Caked in dust, reupholstered seat cushions that were patched with those old woven rugs, could see through the floor boards, only got AM radio. I learned to drive a stick on that beauty when I was a Sophomore in Highschool. Had to shove the clutch through the floor to shift, and man was it loud! But he taught me to drive it so I could load up my lawn care stuff to mow yards in the summer. Such a beast. When I drove my first "new" manual I couldn't believe that a clutch could be so smooth!

Where do I begin?! My dad has ALWAYS been a truck guy. As a kid we knew that when the camper was loaded up, it was time for an adventure. Our best adventure was always driving down to Mexico to the town where my dad grew up. We were usually there for a week or two and it was like a travel back in time. My dad grew up on a small ranching down in Mexico. We'd all jump in the truck (kids in the back in the camper) and drive 14 hours to get there. Once we were there it was like camping on steroids. Climbs up the mountains, helping herd sheep and cows, riding horses. It was so much fun. One of the highlights was the fresh mangoes that grew there. We even had a "mango shirt" that our parents would make us wear. We called it that because we wore it to eat mangoes because we always made a mess (but it was ok if we were wearing our mango shirts). Visiting my grandparents and working the farm on a tractor were other highlights of our great adventures. That old pickup truck was the key to getting to the town on those offroad roads. Great memories!

My dad had a Dodge Little Red Express truck that he would take us out in on the weekends. From the age of 7 or 8 me and my brothers would sit on his lap and steer while he controlled the pedals. Once we got too big to sit on his lap he would let us get on the back roads and actually drive it. It was an experience that has made me truly love driving and trucks since then.

My dad used to hide his truck next riverbank in the bushes. My mom would drop us up 5 miles up the river and he and I would go tubing in the summer - just the 2 of us. Really great memories of being cold but in that truck with the windows down and 95º air flowing through the cab on the way home.

We never had a truck growing up. That being said my favorite truck memory with my dad was showing him my first Tacoma, an 07, and then going fishing with him.
