I'm kind of in to the retro touches recently, which is why I went with machined wheels and just ordered the "4WD" mudflaps. I really like this turbo decal too, but it's almost guaranteed I'd screw up the application lol

My mom had a really cool rig, but she gave it to her maintenance guy. I'm sure he's loving it (photo below). That's the kind of styling I think of.

What have been your favorite retro mods you've seen around ?

No retro. No tunes. Got it. Constructive. Thank you 😂
You did ask for opinions, right? Sorry my opinion doesn't align with what you wanted to hear. There are zero "retro" mods that look good therefore, ZERO.

You don't have to be sorry, man. It's ok. You just have a lot of negative input on a lot of topics, hence the passive aggressive compliment for your "constructive" input. Nothing wrong being vanilla my dude! All good.

This would have been my "retro" style being an 80's kid. I never owned one but friends did and I wanted one. I had friends with full custom Nissan Hardbody trucks and those were cool as well.

Haha nice !
I'm a 90s kid, so really into some of the late 80s early 90s styling. Trying to see if I can pull it together in a tasteful way being that I'm almost 40, but machined wheels and mudflaps might be as far as I can go lol I can agree that some of the retro stuff is a bit cheesy, but to each their own!

The 4WD mudflaps are nice, as any old school graphics (maybe a turbo one for the 4th gen). Not a huge fan of some alloys; I prefer the simpler ones or even steelies for a retro look. Also not a fan of the stamped tailgate Tacoma font; prefer the more old school vinyl Toyota (though I'm guessing they don't last as long). That being said I hate mix and match even more; IMHO go full retro or do a modern / contemporary build, one or the other.

....Or do whatever you want; it is your truck, not mines

Currently still on the OEMs, but when it’s time for new tires my plan is to go white letters out. I’m old enough to remember when it was a popular thing, but pretty sure most people on the uphill side of 40 would consider that a less than excellent decision—— probably doesn’t count as a mod, but definitely retro. :)

edit: ^^^^looks like I screwed-up the "quote" part of this

I'm into that! If my Nittos had white lettering, it would go out for sure

I wish there was a trim that had TOYOTA instead of TACOMA. I would pay for that tailgate.
