Finally found some time this afternoon to install my first upgrades. OEM front recovery points, “TOYOTA” skid plate with RCI cross member, Caliraised tailgate anti-theft plate.

I had a question for those of you that have a non-OR/TH/PRO vehicle and use a cross member. I bought the RCI Off-road one and when I tried to mount with the OEM Toyota front recovery points it doesn’t sit flush, even cranking down on the bolts. The RCI piece has some contours that prevent the recovery point to sit flat. Is this normal to those of you that have this setup? I think everything else went as expected.

I too have an SR5 with an aftermarket skid plate. I have one by DV8 because I could install it without having the cross member. However, the contours did prevent the billet style recovery points from bolting down flat. I discover the OEM loop style does bolt flat.
I just put the loop style on both sides. If I decide I want red, I can paint them. I’m actually fine with black. I traded the two red ones for one OEM loop and we both are happy and have two recovery points (he has the stock splash guard so the billet style works)

That’s wasn’t a bad idea either. I probably could have saved some more cash and tried to find another loop from someone and painted or have it powder coated red….ah well
Did not realize some other plates could mount without the cross member, but I really liked the “TOYOTA” so I got the LC plate. (Glad) to see the SR5s have the same issue with the red hooks lol

Looks great, I would just leave it. www.youtube.com/@828findadventure
Thanks. Yeah it didn’t really bother me all that much, just wondered if it was ok to be kinda crooked pressing against the bend on the crossmember but I guess it’s fine as long as it’s tightened down against it. I’ll check when I do oil changes to make sure it hasn’t loosened up or anything.

actually, most dealers want $65 for one of those OEM loops. My dealer wanted $85. I got those red ones on Amazon for $40 give or take. So I was happy to trade two for one. It saved me money and the guy on marketplace who traded for them got a smoking deal because it only cost him one recovery loop. Win win.
