Anyone know if it’s possible? I feel like it’s the closest option for those of us running 285/75r17 (the 34 runs about 33.5 and the 285 runs 33.8 I believe), but haven’t seen anyone mention it. Or for that matter anyone attempting to fit a 285/75r17 aired down.

is it just not possible?

I am running the 285/75r17 and also had the same thought. Anyone else done this?

I picked up an 18x7 spare and run an LT235/80R18 on it. It’s a little bit shorter (like 0.7”) than my 34x10.5 tire, so it would be about 1” shorter than your 285. It is a very tight fit and I have leaf springs with no track bar.

I never did try to put one of my 34’s up in the spare spot but I doubt it would fit. It would hang pretty low if it did fit and would look unsightly.

If you can find an OEM 18” wheel I’d recommend the route I went. The 1” shorter tire compared to 285/75 would be close enough to not pose a problem in usage. I think anyone will be hard pressed to fit a 34 or 285 for that matter into the spare location. My spare is basically all the way up against the back of the trailer hitch.
