I'm not sure the video is even a vendor produced video. It just looks like some random guy doing the installation. IMHO if he can do it, anyone can do it (no shade to the content creator intended). If you look at the written instructions it looks like a pretty easy install. Pull off some interior panels, plug in the controller, run to a power source, put it all back together. Nothing I haven't done a time or ten.

If you're in the Seattle area maybe we host an install event at my house and do two or three at the same time (I live at the base of Stevens Pass about 45 minutes from Seattle). DM me if you're interested, although I should say it may be a bit before I have time due to currently spending a good portion of my time in Portland caring for my mother-in-law....
I am on the coast in Aberdeen, I would be willing to come your way.

Just what I need, lol, another great way to spend $250.
This year is capped out on spending, but I can see that being a great birthday present in February.
Looking forward to see how it performs in the snow.
Final part of my build this year is the backwoods high clearance hybrid bumper with a full bull bar. A Warn 12K Eva winch with factor 55 ultra hook. A full set of RCI skids, and lastly a set of 8 Diode Dynamics rock lights.
Pacific Upfitters in Troutdale Oregon will be doing the install on this project 😀.

That truck is NICE. The wheel color really goes. Are they some sort of olive color?

LOL, with ski season coming, 3 season or multi day passes bought, and so far experience I'll want that $250 be for winter budget.

I can honestly see where the mod would be nice, but so far when locker's been needed 4 low has also been appropriate.

Congrats on the product release. Was waiting for someone to come out with this.

However. Quite possibly the worst produced video i have ever seen. The person doing the installer in the video, made the install look like a horror show.

Sorry for the harsh words.
Yea, I hate to sound mean, but that video does nothing to help the product.

Why would you switch the locker on in 2wd?
My O/R manual is the first pickup I've owned. One of the situations that I didn't expect, or at least thought would be less severe, is the inability to accelerate strongly from a stop on dry pavement. For reference, I'm coming off a Subaru (which has nearly perfect traction) and before that, many front wheel drive cars which DON'T have great traction from a stop. But this truck vaporizes the right rear tire so easily! I'm talking about trying to get up and going a little faster than most people usually do, not drag racing. So the ability to quickly lock and unlock the rear diff while driving around town is appealing to me. What I really don't understand is, what the heck is the 'traction control' doing, because it seems like it's doing nothing. Could my truck be defective in that way, or do all you guys have to baby the throttle when starting out?

That won't work with a Toyota E-locker. It will quickly kill the splines in the differential - it's meant to be locked/unlocked only from a complete stop, then creep forward at idle until the lock collar engages/disengages.

It's not at all like a ARB, that you can engage/disengage at any speed as long as you ease off the throttle, since it has very coarse splines that are almost akin to dogs. Toyota E-Lockers have a sliding collar with fine splines inside and out that can be stripped easily if jammed into place at speed. Hence why Toyota has a speed limit built into the 4wd/Locker computer.

Now that I looked into it... The Freedom Locker also requires a complete stop to activate/deactivate (per their instructions).

I don't baby mine, but I've never spun a tire on acceleration.

Yotota is correct; using the rear locker around town is a poor idea. There's a reason differentials are there.
