What do folks think about upgrading the fuel filter from OEM to something that may filter better? I’m interested to hear your thoughts on if there is utility in doing this.

It ain’t broke and don’t need fixing, but I am looking for practical ways to help my truck last at least 15 years…I hope this generation has that ability, but of course, only time will tell.

I would do this once the basic warranty expires, but I don’t know if this has anything to do with the other longer warranties.

Thanks in advance for sharing your insights.

I don’t really ever hear of anybody “upgrading” a gasoline filter, only diesel guys do that, people just change them with an original

Ah thanks, that is must be why my dad who had a Ford diesel truck did that. He also had double engine oil filtration put in (bypass).

The filter is part of the pump inside the sending unit. The pump could be changed out but I doubt it would be an upgrade(unless you are getting a higher volume/pressure pump), it would likely have an OE equivalent filter as its just a small pad on the bottom. Only way I could think of "upgrading" it is by adding in an additional filter inline which really isn't worth it. This is what it looks like:

Had no idea that the filter was integrated.
Thanks for giving me a clue!

Yea most modern vehicles have the filter integrated into the pump/sending unit. Very rarely do gas vehicles use an inline filter still. Pretty much just diesel trucks for the most part.

Cool. Retired, went back to DIY maintenance. Can’t find the fuel filter on my ‘23 Integra either—Google says for the same reason. That car has 30K miles but I have very little to do for it. Just wash the air filter and change engine and gear oils for now.
