Guess I need an Oil catch can! Caught this while installing my intercooler!

Even on a dual-injected engine, an oil catch can is an upgrade because it captures oil vapor from the PCV system before it enters the intake. Oil can still accumulate inside the charge pipe, eventually making its way into the intercooler and intake tract like in the photo I attached. Oil coating the inside of the charge pipe and intercooler reduces the intercooler’s ability to efficiently transfer heat, resulting in higher intake air temperatures and less consistent performance. Excess oil can also lower the effective octane of the incoming air/fuel mixture, increasing the likelihood of knock under higher boost, while contaminating sensors and leaving deposits throughout the intake system. An oil catch can helps keep the charge pipe, intercooler, and intake cleaner, preserving cooling efficiency, maintaining consistent power, and promoting long-term engine reliability—especially if you are tuned or drive aggressively.

That tiny little dribble of vapors is nowhere near necessitating a catch can to solve a problem. Install one if you want, but this is hardly any reason to justify “needing” one.

You’re right! As in this amount is normal which I understand. But I’m getting a catch can for a piece of mind and longevity.
