Lesson Learned: you can still lock your keys in your truck

Didn’t realize you can still lock your keys in your truck in this modern era.

Went golfing today and when I finished I threw my golf bag in my bed which contained my key fob. I closed the electronic tailgate (keep in mind I have a retractable tonneau cover). When I returned, the tailgate wouldn’t open and my cover was locked. Wife had to come save the day with my spare key. Question for the guys who have Toyota Connect. Does it allow you to remotely lock/unlock you trucks? I was thinking of that as my other option.

Short answer: Yes, the app allows me to unlock/lock. Did your '24 come with the key card? Could also put that in your golf bag as a safety net. Another option could be to get a locking hitch "safe".

Yes, you can unlock your truck through the Toyota App.

I keep the spare hard key in a magnetic key box hidden somewhere on the outside of the truck and the spare FOB hidden inside the truck. Low tech is the quickest and most reliable.

you can also (with cell service) use your phone as a key to drive. not just unlock/lock
