What do you all think a keep or a return?

If anyone else has installed this, do you have a gap? (Image 2)

I took mine off, it's for sale here. I didn't notice if it had a gap like yours but I did notice not much thought went into the production of these. The 3rd gen panels had a lip in the front and tucked under the trim on top of the tailgate. It was a much cleaner look:

I also remember they had more coverage along the sides and bottom. Not to mention they flat out lied to me twice via text about it being shipped when it wasn't. I'd never purchase one of their products again.

First, you should leave on the old OME tailgate cover and mount the Mountain Hatch directly on top of it. No gaps and it looks much better! I recently installed mine but the plan is to use it as a flat table to cook on while at the beach and camping.

You are definitely right I wasn’t feeling the installation through the instructions. I will definitely do it this way.

did you buy bigger screws or did you just use the ones mountain hatch sent??

ā€œdid you buy bigger screws or did you just use the ones mountain hatch sent??ā€

I used the screws they sent but they were much larger screws. There was also a hand written note on my order that actually said ā€œinstall on top of the OME tailback coverā€

If you have smaller screws, ask Mountain Hatch for the larger ones.

They sent larger ones, thanks though. I saw the message as well but on website it looked like it was just the oem tailgate lip they kept on bottom.

this message makes sense now.

I wish I had seen this thread last summer when I received and installed my Mountain Hatch table. I have never been happy with the way it fit and had the gaps you illustrate as well as a large gap between the tailgate and bed. There was absolutely nothing to indicate that it should be installed over the OEM cover.

I installed with the hex head screws that came with it, but added washers which should have been included. All showed signs of rust within a few months. Has anyone else had the same experience?

While I like the concept and the table serves its purpose, I'm less than pleased with the attention to detail. Stainless button head screws would be a vast improvement coupled with accurate installation instructions.

What size washers did you get ? I didn’t receive them in my order either šŸ˜‚. I tried to find a form of contact with no luck last year to ask.

Having a flat tailgate surface is handy.

’ corrugated is stronger for the weight, but if you use the tailgate for a table when in the woods, the corrugation sucks.
^^^^yes, also provides an additional work surface when needed not to mention just more comfy to sit on :)
