Mine looks the same. It is a rubberized material in that channel. I assume it is where the roof racks would mount and either partially gets removed or needs to be that way for a good seal. IDK.

Same. Has been discussed before. The uneven texture helps to shed moisture. And it feels kind of sexy too.

same, you actually punch through the thin paint layer to get to the roof rack holes. I accidentally broke one of the clips taking the covers off.

It's called seam sealer. Same stuff you'd see in trunks of cars at the seams. Would have been better if they used a strip of molding the entire length. But they went with the cheaper seam sealer and sections of trim where the rack would go.
