62 is well before actual old age, and someone in their 60s should be able to do either side of 10 or more pushups vs be challenged to wash an automobile. I'm no spectacular or talented athlete, and even with some permanent bad problems plus chronic pain, don't find it hard to meet or beat important measures.

One of the elements I hate most starting retirement a little late is seeing so many my own age in pathetic physical and mental shape. It brings my whole country down.

Yeah, just use some turtle wax hybrid ceramic spray and call it good. Works great.

It's not actually ceramic. It's Turtle Wax ICE in a spray bottle. It has wax and polymers. Wipe on with MF cloth and buff off with clean cloth. It's supposed to be that easy to cover fine swirl marks like a woman uses a tube of make-up to hide wrinkles on her face. It's a cosmetic band-aid. A brand new paint job is an analog to major plastic surgery, a high-cost face lift!!

Actually I cannot see any car wash brush marks on my truck in broad daylight and that is a good thing. Bright sunlight seems to scare them away into hiding. Only do those creepy fine scratches show their ugly faces under the parking lot lights of bewitching hours!! EEEEEK!

And the latter is a very good product. It's impossible for my pickup truck to look perfect or not have marks from use, but that stuff is definitely better than any traditional wax and every bit as good as "ceramic" category that costs much more. It doesn't' mark or stand out on black finish so makes it easy to get dirt off the whole vehicle when it is time.

I don't see any scratches from the car wash brushes on my pickup truck UNLESS under certain lighting conditions, those certain conditions mean streetlights or parking lot lights after dark, yuh dig dude? I used to slave over my 1988 Firebird and 1992 Little Red Corvette back in the day. When my mother bought her new white 1983 Datsun 280-ZX Turbo in 1993, she had a professional detailer named Sal in Novato, California. The hottest thing he used back then was "Teflon" paint treatment and it was about $200 even then. Any time dealer F&I tries to push paint protector packages and other crap on me, I decline. I did get the Toyota Platinum VSA 100K miles/10-year/zero deduct for my truck at $1,845 after chiseling the dealer down from $3,250.

You keep exposing important things not a vehicle that need work. 2 dogs, 3 kids, and owning a business while maintaining fitness didn't get in the way of using up some old wax, moving to the new type polish/protectants. I strongly advise you work on well being stuff for all you expose where you post and troll on forums.

A reasonably well maintained but clearly very used Toyota has held so much value for us repeatedly now that it is proof we should work on ourselves before automobiles.

There's a reason the old garbage isn't sold anymore. I remember back in 09 the I still worked for Ford, we had a 90s truck roll in that was mint. Which was already rare for the rust belt. There was only one problem, it was a pale pink color. Turns out there used to be a popular "permanent wax" back then. Some kind of composite base like Teflon or Silicon. Apparently thats what it does with UV exposure.

The truck had a gorgeous red paint underneath after a long buffing session. Which sounds great, but there's a reason I said the old stuff was garbage. It will do it again, and again, forever. That old "wax" sure was permanent, to the point the only way to remove it is by sanding it off. I happen to also own a car that had it done:

Those fenders will match that hood and front valence. A good buffing brings them right back. But in less than a year they're right back to it.

Point is, technology and products move on for a reason.

You're right....I went from a silver/gray 2005 Tacoma to a Super Sonic Red 2015 Tundra and she does have quite a few scratches and marks, now.

But she's a truck! In the winter, I do go to touchless car washes with the bottom spray to clean off the salt and potassium and, in the summer, I'll put a coat of Meguiars Ceramic Wax on our vehicles.

I'm more OCD with our vehicle maintenance, though....do oil changes every 6-months or 5,000 miles (whichever comes first) along with transmission and coolant changes (every 4-5 years)

This Taco will be my first turbo so probably doing oil changes every 3-months or 3,000 miles.

Glad I have my own Quick Jack lift which makes oil changes, and any other maintenance, pretty easy.
