Hey guys, I’m trying to swap out my oem light bar with something that has a more useful beam pattern than the stock one. I know the oem bar is on CANBUS so removing it would lose the functionality of the high beam toggle (but that’s not a big deal for me as I’d rather have a light that’s useful).

My question is, if I simply unplug it, and put in the other bar (and wire that bar to aux 1), will the truck freak out and throw codes because the oem bar is magically gone? Can I just unplug it and seal/cover up the leads so they don’t get banged up from the weather without the truck having a tantrum? Would it lose its computer marbles if I use my high beams when the bar isn’t there anymore, and not turned on. I hardly use it anyway, so that trd light bar button is never pressed, but I’m not sure how the high beam system is connected in the computer

I’m trying to tiptoe around this truck’s very touchy computer as best as I can, but I’m far from an expert so I figured I’d ask here and see what others have done to address this

Thx in advance!

I don't think your stock light bar is attached to CANBUS. I could be wrong on that, but you just have a switch for it, and that switch is probably tied to the high beam signal somewhere along the line.

Regardless of how it's wired up, simply wiring a new light bar to Aux1 wouldn't mess anything up.
If you wanted to keep the high beam functionality, you could tee off of that signal to drive a relay that powers your new light bar.
