I know this is going to sound dumb, but I'd like to replace the power running boards on my 2025 Limited with stationary ones to help protect the side of my truck from rocks. The power ones will probably just freeze up and corrode in the winter anyway.

If anyone has removed theirs, what did you do with the power cables as far as securing them and water proofing the plugs? Where you able and how did you shut off all the dash messages?

I too have been considering removing mine. But I had the same concerns with dash messages. Curious on what others have to say.

I removed mine. Pretty straight forward. I used waterproof tape to thoroughly wrap the connections and zip tied them to the underbody. I did this for rock protection and in combination with rokblokz mud flaps i can drive down dirt/gravel roads at 40 all day long with zero chips.

Turn your running board switch to off. Be aware that you will get an error referencing the running boards but if you keep the switch in the off position it will go away after several key cycles. Mine have been removed for almost 2 years now with no errors after the initial 5-10 ish cycles.

I would store them away safely as it may help later in resale or trade in. Very nice looking power operational running boards could make the sell.
