For anyone keeping score at home, Toyota came through for me no questions asked. Acknowledged that the part was defective, but stopped short of acknowledging that it's a general issue and not unique to my truck.

For all the horror stories you hear about dealerships, I'm thankful to have found a decent one. Mind you, I bought the truck from a different, unaffiliated dealer about 20 minutes further from where I live, and I only used this dealer to get my couple of free services in the first two years.

Atlantic Toyota in West Islip, NY. One of the good ones.

I'm sure eventually as more miles get put on 24-25 TRD OR we'll see a TSB or recall or something.

Glad they helped you out!

Great news, and I'm glad you found a good dealer. They could teach some things to my local dealer.

Dropped it off this morning, we'll see how it goes.

Also, no idea why you guys keep referencing a pot hole in your replies....like I said originally, it was a speed bump!
They’re the same thing, just convex vs concave version 🤪

Tinkerer's adventure covered this in one of his videos, I bought these as a simple bolt on upgrade.

15 minute install, worth for peace of mind.

Yup, I'm gonna be all over this. Is the install really as easy as just taking off the wheels, removing 4 bolts, throwing this bad boy on top and replacing the bolts?

Sounds like the best $88.01 after tax and shipping I've ever spent. Thanks for the tip, fellas.

You don't even need to remove the wheels. Reach over the wheels and you have plenty of access.

Look in your front fender today, and you'll see the four top studs/nuts and how easy they are to access.

After I finished asking stupid questions, I watched the video @ixo linked from Icon. Wish I had the foresight to install these a week ago, lol. Somehow, I was completely ignorant to this very well documented issue. Gonna throw these on as soon as I receive from Icon.

it sucks you had to find out the hard way, and sucks even more it's an issue, but hopefully a few more will see this.

I still kinda worry that the part will fail "hidden" now, like that top cast crown will shatter under the part we install, but not be obvious.

Toyota really should put a more durable piece in that spot.

That's for sure. It just looks like such a chinsey piece of cast that's shouldering the load here.

When I'm able to pick the truck up I'm going to take some photos comparing the replaced shock to the original on the other side to see if there's been any visible improvements. I do believe in Toyota, so it would not surprise me if they've quietly already addressed this issue in the two years since my truck rolled off the line.
