Good luck @rijc99! I hope your dealer is already making plans to fix those oil leaks.

Almost every week I find a new reason to suspect the quality and durability of my truck, which I do happen to love. I didn't hesitate to buy a first year Taco because of my history with Toyota, but my confidence is starting to crack.

Let us know how this goes!
Timing cover leaks are also becoming a thing with these 4th gen’s….so much for the 2 part timing cover preventing that leak lol.

Yikes. Maybe I’ll have them look at that area just in case.

I’ve been looking for a coolant leak but haven’t found it yet. I can occasionally snell coolant when I exit the truck.

If the coolant is coming out of the engine, then I say it is new engine time. Hopefully it is just a line or a fitting, but with the oil leaks it does make you wonder.

Normal it’s the way Toyota designed the overflow bottle. The bottle degasses to the outside

Latest theory I have heard about most oil leaks where rtv sealer is applied is that it’s from contamination on the surface of the metal such as natural oils on the assembly line workers hands . Makes sense to me but you’d figure Toyota would have them wearing gloves but who knows

If true it’s very reminiscent of how not clearing the engine blocks properly caused all those engines to eventually fail.

It basically comes down to sloppy production and assembly by the former masters of automotive perfection.

I just can't figure out what the hell happened to Toyota.
