Anyone else using the JBL speaker dock for something other than the speaker? I kept seeing roof mounts and magnetic pads for the Starlink Mini and wondered why nobody was using the rigid quick-release receptacle Toyota already put dead center on the dash, aimed at the windshield.
Turns out a Defender shop in Canada had the same thought. Broken Rover is a Land Rover parts outfit, and the designer, Jeremy, actually launched the bracket in a thread on another Tacoma forum back in January with the line that he's a Land Rover guy intruding into the Toy world. It snaps into the JBL Flex receptacle with the Mini attached, and the dock's own latch holds it.
How it works day to day
Install is genuinely about two seconds. Press the factory release button, lift the speaker out, snap the bracket in. Removal is the same button, so the whole assembly comes out in one motion when the truck is parked somewhere I'd rather not advertise a satellite dish. That stow speed is the real feature for me. No adhesive residue, no drilled holes, no suction cup baking loose in the sun.
The bracket itself is a 3D printed part, layer lines and all, with a Made in Canada sticker on the back. Printed thick through the clip sections, and it's rigid plastic seated in a rigid dock rather than a friction mount that works loose. Ships with all hardware plus a release stick you don't really need since a finger reaches the release tabs fine.
Numbers and fitment
Roughly 300 grams total, so the dock doesn't notice it. $60 CAD from their site, ships from Canada.
You need the JBL dock, so Trailhunter, TRD Pro, or a JBL-optioned Off-Road. One honest caveat from the designer's launch thread: the PeakDo battery adapter variant pushed the dish into the glass on a 2024 OR, and Jeremy confirmed the standard version is the safe fit. Mine clears fine on the Trailhunter. The dish is also looking through glass at whatever angle the windshield gives it, so you trade some sky view for the convenience.

Curious what this crowd thinks about dash mounting vs roof for the Mini, and whether anyone's run one through a hot summer yet. Arizona dash temps are my open question.
