That sounds really close to what I have! Going to hunt nowā¦Hereās a good video of the rattle found on Tacomaworld
Thereās 2 of these in each wheel well for my Taco. Thereās a smaller one forward of the one pictured. All 4 were floppy as hell. And one fastener wasn't even pushed in on the left front! Huge thanks for finding and posting this!I was having a very annoying rattle above about 30 mph coming from the front and at times both sides, sometimes alternating sides! It started about 2-3 months ago at about 15,000 miles. I tore through damn near the entire front end trying to find it! Ended up being the engine splash guards in the wheel wells! I tapped them with my finger and they made the annoying rattle. Iām assuming the wind above 30 mph must have been causing them to start flopping and making the noise? The fix was simple, just remove them and put 2 layers of electrical tape over the holes that they attach to, then cut an X in the hole so the push pins can slip in to make a snug fit. There are 2 on each side, wasnāt certain which ones were the problem so I completely removed them and taped every hole.

Yeah, all 4 got the electrical tape treatmentThereās 2 of these in each wheel well for my Taco. Thereās a smaller one forward of the one pictured. All 4 were floppy as hell. And one fastener wasn't even pushed in on the left front! Huge thanks for finding and posting this!
Mine has it, too. I've been meaning to fix it, but always forget. I mostly ride with the windows cracked or down, and with the wind noise you don't hear it at all. If you have the windows up and the music isn't playing, it's extremely annoying. I can't believe it got past initial testing before the truck was released.
Off Road, yeah, I had my a pillars apart, kick panels, hood and engine bay trim, and front bumper cover apart looking! I was happy and pissed when I found what it wasThank you so much!!!!! I kept hearing this rattling I swore was in the driver side door or A pillar. Only above 15 mph. I tapped my driver side splash guard tonight, and sure enough, super loose. Checked passenger side and didnāt make a noise, right and secured.
Wondering, what trim do you have with 2 per wheel well? I have a TRD Sport and only see one in each wheel well.
Hahahaha. I appreciate your hard work!Off Road, yeah, I had my a pillars apart, kick panels, hood and engine bay trim, and front bumper cover apart looking! I was happy and pissed when I found what it was![]()
I might try those.Has anyone tried little foam washers from Amazon?
Iām sure that would do it! Probably better than electrical tapeI might try those.
