Installed leveling kit yesterday and took the truck in for wheel alignment to local shop. They just called and said the wheel alignment is done but now they’re getting all these alerts. I wasn’t getting any errors or issues before I took it in. Only thing is steering wheel was cocked slightly prior to alignment but no warning lights.

Cycles on the dash
System malfunction visit your dealer
Parking brake malfunction
Secondary collision brake system malfunction
Antilock brake system malfunction

also chime on seatbelt goes off even when the seatbelts on.

I included the specs from the leveling kit as well as after alignment

anyone experience any similar issues or advice on fix?

I feel like every one of these threads can be traced back to not disconnecting the battery and/or the sensors/cameras needing a recalibration after doing a lift.

This should be SOP before even considering messing with the suspension components.

I disconnect the battery and had no issues after installation of the lift. Didn’t get the alerts until after I took the truck to get an alignment. Shop called me (not dealer) saying they were getting the notifications

You will have to have your Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) sensors recalibrated, specifically the front radar by the toyota emblem on the grill. I had to do the same when leveled my truck. The only way I figured out it was the ADAS was the actual Toyota app gave me a warning message relating to the sensor lol.

Did you take this to the dealer for recalibration? What did they end up charging for this?

I took it to a shop that specializes in ADAS recalibrations, not the dealer. It can be pretty expensive, I paid around $380 for it. As for the dealership, I think you'll have to get lucky to even have a dealership recalibrate for you, let alone even diagnosing the issue. (In my experience, I brought my truck into a dealer to have them run the check engine light codes. They came back to me saying it was my aftermarket tailights that were the issue 🙄)

Might be better off with a body shop actually if price shopping. Had to have it done on the wifes Corolla after an accident. It's pricey at the dealer but insurance was paying (around $500). Apparently it's also supposed to be done every time thr bumper is removed if the sensor is attached to it.

Thanks for input…my question is why would it happen only after the shop did the wheel alignment? I had no errors or alerts prior to dropping it off at the shop once the leveling kit was installed.

Get a generic obd2 code reader, scan for codes, clear all codes. This has worked for me in the past. They likely performed an action that the safety sense didn’t care for.. I could be wrong, but try the $25 Walmart code reader first.

That's the part that kinda throws me a bit atleast. If everything was fine, then aligned and now it's throwing codes it does lean towards the shop could have caused it. But without the codes there's nothing that could really be said for sure. However all these systems are essentially linked together. The abs, traction, and stability control all use the same sensors. A single abs sensor going bad would throw all 3 systems out of whack. It's also possible that since the truck has automatic braking built into its cruise control that it could be thrown off as well. The parking brake may also use them to an extent to detect the vehicle has come to a full stop before applying. So, in theory it COULD be that they somehow damaged an abs sensor/wiring as it is in close proximity to the tie rods they were adjusting. Or they left one unplugged if it's in the way of the camber bolts.

But I wouldn't jump to conclusions or make any accusations until you actually have the codes. Basically, you gotta get those trouble codes before anyone can help you going forward if you aren't just going to take it to a different shop/dealer for repair. Whether you invest in a code reader of some sort yourself, pay a shop/dealer for diagnostic, or go to a local autoparts store and see if they can scan it for free (it may well be too new for their scanners), it's your choice.

Took it to Oreilly and they had to manually enter vehicle as nothing was populating when connected. Went inside and said no codes were showing up.

Went to autozone and said was populating as mini cooper or Nissan Altima so no dice there as well.

I confirmed with both it was an OBD2 code reader
