I want to upgrade my JBL system. This kit seems interesting to me. I want to upgrade the door and dash speakers, plus add a sub. I’ve ruled out the beatsonic route, I want to go the route of using an amp.
Part of me wants to go for the convenience of this kit, because I believe these base level Alpines will still out perform the JBLs, I’ve had Type Rs in another vehicle and really like Alpine.
I was thinking of getting this kit, plus an amplifier, but wouldn’t know what kind of amp to get.
I also am considering the TacoTunes subwoofer kit to replace the JBL sub. That comes with an amp already, but I fear it may be underpowered. The appeal of that kit to me is a behind the seat box.
So, if my goal is to add a sub in a box behind the back seats, and upgrade all of the door/dash speakers, what route is best for amplification? I’d love to just have a single amp underneath the driver or passenger seat powering the door speakers and sub, but am not opposed to getting an amp for each sub. I don’t see much info online in custom buildouts for these trucks yet, so if anyone has any thoughts or experience to share, it would be greatly appreciated.
