When my transmission went out, the initial scan didn't reveal anything. The service mgr. looked further and found that a solenoid had been temporarily plugged by errant metal particles, and swapped out the tranny. Perhaps she is more knowledgeable than yours. Perhaps yours doesn't want to deal with a whiner whose incapable of a reasonable discussion, or some other reason.

Thanks for the advice, I was better off with my 3rd generation it seems like they fixed some of the issue's but I would not recommend this truck . I’m not here to say negative things but if I can stop someone from making the same mistake as I did at this point I’m happy with that. I know the dealer Ian’s Toyota are going to screw me. The guy that’s said I should sell my truck was right. Only problem is is I miss my old truck I have a truck that’s worth. More on paper. But they stopped taking trade as ins on the Tundra because of engine failure with the metal in the engine issue. Now it’s the transmission not my fault but I’m paying the price both ways. We will see what Regardless they should do a recall instead of waiting until I loose power to accelerate. And why did they no scan it when bi asked if my trucks vin was involved just because they don’t care that’s par for the course. Not to mention they hit me with 7.5 percent interest and I have perfect credit wait until tariffs and interest rates are combined delirious will be closing and it will be very expensive at the ones open. This is a warning as to what’s to come. More price gouging and being priced out of driving.

Perhaps you should watch your mouth. And I have an open in vote to shot the one with any of you who want to disrespect. I will destroy you you don’t know me. As nd you don’t know my style.
You take a serious situation and start to throw shame. Why did they not check my solenoid tensor? You scum how dare you throw dirt on my name .They obviously did not check that for me they told me no problem. I told them my only opinion is to film the next time I have no power. Come get some 🍀⚒👎🏽you will loose

It remains hard to understand you, and you don't seem to accept the advice and instructions that generally do well to solve problems.

You post was in mind yesterday when our German car under warranty air conditioning stopped working and we have a 1000 mi trip in 10 days. For sure it was upsetting to learn no service appointments until after that, but approaching it right, now I have the dealer seeing what they can do including getting it fixed at one of their other locations. With the right attitude and data from a past warranty repair that took too long I got a guy who is working for me and thankful for my not being angry or upset.

The all of it is just hard to understand. "hit me with 7.5 percent interest"???? I don't know how someone gets forced into something like that. Without incentives or subsidized sales I didn't have to do anything like that for my Tacoma. I just bought the thing.

Did you exceed your 5/60 powertrain warranty? If not, you have a warranty. If you want good results for warranties and about all customer service you have to approach it with the right attitude. That should not be hard to figure out.

Just wanted to say I appreciate your approach with both posts on this thread. I can tell you’re genuinely trying to be helpful despite the somewhat erratic nature of the original post. I also agree that showing anger towards service people generally solves nothing and that usually, the anger when directed at a service rep, is misdirected and only serves to make the situation worse.

I didn’t even see OP’s other post yet as I’ve been slammed the last week with work and travel and have some threads to catch up on.

This forum has been really awesome and helpful for me for many reasons. Overall I really appreciate the interactions I’ve had and seeing what other people are doing with and to their Tacomas. I’ve met some really cool people on here.

That being said, I really don’t understand why some people seem to take personal offense to other people disliking, or taking issue with various aspects of their 4th gens. Who cares? I may be way off the mark but the impression I get is that some individuals seem to take an insult to the truck, or to Toyota as a personal assault. I just feel people should be able to come here and express what they want to, though I guess that goes both ways.

Again I want to stress this is not directed at any individual, just more of a general observation. But I’ve noticed a lot of people talk about their German cars, luxury cars, motorcycles etc., nothing inherently wrong with this at all of course. But not everyone is coming from that kind of financial background.

For some people this may be their first new truck, while others have purchased many new vehicles. Maybe OP is in an area with an awful dealer. I have no idea. I will say that I absolutely know from experience that often, the service rep you get to help you can make all the difference in the world (whether it’s car related, HEALTHCARE, general customer service…).

I suppose my point is that if someone saved and spent good money for this truck, and things didn’t work out like they expected, or worse they end up with a lemon etc, that situation isn’t experienced the same for everyone. I can say this from having grown up without a lot, entering into adulthood already with financial stresses, and now as an older adult having a decent and stable job that afforded me to be able to pay in full, an experience such as a major vehicle issue is processed differently depending on someone’s financial situation. At least I can say this for myself.

Perhaps I’ll get grief for this post. Time will tell. Go ahead and lay it on thick if you feel so inclined, I can take it. I’ll just say this, we are not our trucks:) Good day to all.

I had a 1st, 2nd and 3rd generation and this 2024 is by far the best of them all overall.

Younger folks just expect everything to go their way, which in life, good luck with that.

Nobody is entitled, you have to earn it.

Most sane folks do their research before purchase. Go get a Colorado, Frontier, Ranger and let me know how that goes for you.

I fully agree with your perspective. This site should be an open forum for the good and sometimes bad things related to our trucks, as well as a place to get help and share ideas. What prompted my response was the poster’s comment that the site is for people who just want to install unnecessary parts. I did not appreciate that generalization.

Thank you. I can say what I did for how polarized people are and that dealer dividing their stores by US, Japanese, German and Korean brands. Our VW and several are/were not as expensive as my Tacoma and lots of them.

I don't have good answers for that matter of polarization I brought up and so much success envy. In my own case and fortunately, it was motivation to just get more competitive and understanding when I was younger. We both seem to share having done better earlier. It feels lucky now that I could twist it towards not being prone to anger and jealousy.

If I can seem preachy in the forums, it is well intended. If I'm at v 4.x of myself in my 60s, versions 1-2.x were not what I am now.

Some younger folks are not as wise and motivated as would be nice but I still work with and am around lots of them to know it is not all. We should think of standard distributions with most under the bell curve alright and not the anomalies.

This weekend is a nice reminder of young people in my metro area with about 90,000 tech college, major university and smaller schools graduations going on. Most now choose good career paths in education and while some struggle, my errands and trips yesterday were sweetened by seeing so many families celebrating the achievements.

We can and should all do better in all this complicated stuff. Lots of forces work at dividing, and parochial behavior is easy and lazy. We all have much in common so should concentrate on that stuff, and make efforts to improve and fix stuff we have in common. That was really obvious in my child of WWII vets era.

:)

P.S. That German car my wife cherishes a sweet AWD VW with manual transmission now has more problems than the AC so it was funny to listen to my wife discuss Toyotas again. It does have 6/72 warranty not expired so my Monday job will be a cheery ask for a loaner because I'd rather not do a 3-4 of us trip in the Tacoma.

@Administrator Is threatening other forum users OK here? In @Btrocc's last couple of posts he openly attacks people for calling out his irrational rants. For the most part this forum has been free from that kind of nasty behavior, which I really appreciate.

I think the OP should head over to Tacoma World where he would fit in perfectly.
