I was doing some work under my truck recently and saw what appears to be a leak on the outside of the frame ahead of the rear axle, on the passenger side. The only thing near to that though is the gas tank, and I was wondering if anyone has any ideas. I guess it it could have also been something that I drove through, but to me it looks like something is leaking. It is on both the outside of the frame and the slider brackets.

Did you install the slider brackets? Did the installer spray before or after installing?

I installed the sliders about 18 months ago, and the other side is clean in that area. Nothing has been sprayed by me and my dealer's service department is too lazy to have done it. lol

OK, that would be good. Where would it be leaking out of and can you make a guess?
The frame rails are pumped full of it. It solidifies some as it cures. But some of it finds it's way out various seams and holes and leaves some residue. Totally normal.

OK, that makes sense. This is my first Toyota truck with a boxed frame, so that probably makes a difference. It probably just washes away in the rain with a C-section frame.

Nope, it does not smell like gas and it really isn't very close to the rear shock. I will take a look at that though here soon.
In Toyota talk, it's called "cavity wax".
Cavity wax! Is that something the service departments use when lying about our trucks?
Maybe it is some kind of lube. lol

@GSPHerder Yep, that looks just like it. The rest of my frame still looks very clean and shiny, so it really shows up on any dirty parts. Thanks for that info!

Nope, just Toyota's anti corrosion material.

2nd gen and early 3rd gen folks could only wish they had it

How does that seep over the bracket tho?
Yeah, that part seemed strange to me too. I guess the purpose of that stuff is to move around so it coats all of the inside surface, so it does the same thing on the outside too.

It sure is better than having a new frame installed!
